It's a Jeff song apparently. Check Mike's facebook page and he gives a few answers....http://www.facebook.com/mikemccreadypj
Hey, I would like to... But Mike McReady never accepted me as a Facebook budy :(
I like this song. It is punky. It is Ramones like... I just can not decipher the damn lyrics... Anybody has a clue?
More importantly: does this mean that there is going to be an album sooner than we expected???

There are two pages????. Hell of it; I only go for the real one. (yes, I am *that* arrogant.) Really like this song though...

I'm surprised by the amount of negativity on this thread. Hoping that it's a Backspacer leftover? Praying that its not a single? WTF? The only reason I would hope that its not a new single or off a new album is that it means one more Pearl Jam track in existence. I personally like the song and I like it more with each listen but I don't expect everyone to agree with my opinion. To each his own and respect one another. No one agrees with any one individual all the time. One of the great things about Pearl Jam is that they are diversified and ever evolving. Inside of one week they have thrown a weekend celebration to celebrate their history and surprisingly debuted a new single to look to the future. This is a fans dream. I've been a fan since I found Alive on a Buzz Bin cassette at a Record Exchange in 1991 and all I can say is thank you.
Looking forward to see what †hey do tonight.
I also don't feel like Ole is a representation of a new sound. I think it easily fits in with Gonna See My Friend, Gods Dice, Breakerfall, Habit, Last Exit, etc. (Also not sure but it sounds like a Jeff song to me)0 -

Negativity seems to be the rule these days... Thousand of opinions by a thousand of people who produce... Nothing...
You are right. This song came as a surprise... It is a gift... Like: "we looked back, and now we are looking forward"... How many bands do this? That you can upload (unexpectedly) a new song? We (fans) are sorry-ass spoiled brats if we can not appreciate this... A BS left over, who cares? A song for a new album? Why not? It rocks. It is punk. It is a tribute to the Ramones... It will not symbolize the whole album. And the lyrics have more depth than the title presumes. As a matter of fact, I think that the "ole" is meant sarcastically...
We should stop whining and just enjoying... Instead of forcing our expectations on this band...0 -
I've searched through pj20.com and cannot find Ole. Maybe I'm just overlooking it, I don't know but can someone help me see it?0

For some reason it's not there when I use internet explorer. I opened it in google chrome and now see the light. Thank you much!0 -
I didn't realize the mods combined a few threads into this one. Pretty cool.
This is just a fun song to rock out to. You can definitely tell it's a Jeff song when you hear the bass is right at you, like "Got Some" and now this song. Like what Mike said on his Facebook page about the song and Jeff's songwriting:

I almost instantly liked it. Gave it a couple listens, and I'm a fan. OLE!!!0

Something for a laugh...for those of you who have the misfortune of remembering the other Ole song.

This song sounds as if everyone in the band is firing on all cylinders and if this is the first taste of an album like this I think we'll all be in for some tight awesome rock songs. Lyrically it reminds me of U2's Vertigo... hola!2000: CLT, Greensboro, 2003: MSG 1 & 2, 2008: MSG 1 & 2, 2009: LA 2 & 3, 2011: Vancouver, 2012: Missoula, 2013: Wrigley, Brooklyn 1 & 2, Voodoo, SD, LA 1 & 2, OAK, PDX, Vancouver, SEA, 2014: Cincy, ACL1, Tulsa, Lincoln, Memphis, Moline, St. Paul, MKE, DEN, Bridge 1 & 2, 2015: GCF, Mexico City, 2016: FLL, MIA, TPA, Greenville, Hampton, Columbia, MSG 1 & 2, Bonnaroo, Telluride, Fenway 1 & 2, Wrigley 1 & 2, 2017: ROHF, 2018: Padova, Rome, Prague, Seattle 1 & 2, Missoula, Wrigley 1 2021: SHN, Ohana 2 & 3, 2022: LA 1 & 2, PHX, OAK 1 & 2, Fresno, MSG, BNA, B&B, STL, OKC, DEN, 2023: MSP 1 & 2, CHI 1 & 2, DFW 2, AUS 1 & 2, 2024: Vancouver 1 & 2, LV 1 & 2, SEA 1 & 20

I haven't read all the posts, but could this be the Christmas single? Timing is perfect as we should be receiving it soon, easy way for us to get the mp3 download, which technically starts on the next single... whatever the case, I'll take a free new PJ song any day. Hopefully people appreciate how spoiled we're getting this month!0

I'm surprised by the amount of negativity towards the people who don't like it. Like you said not everyone is gonna like the same things. so why are the people who don't like it always treated like the bad guys and then told why they should like it, like the people who said things like "listen to a ramones album and you'll get it" or "it's suppose to be a fun song, just enjoy it"
Just because it's suppose to be a fun song doesn't mean everyone gonna love it, I'm sure the people who made the "barbie girl" song or that stupid shuffling song I keep hearing about said it's just a fun song, but I don't enjoy it and I'm sure a lot of other people don't as well.
I haven't seen anyone who doesn't like it saying anything negative to anyone who doesn't or trying to tell them why they shouldn't like it.
Negativity or not liking every thing pearl jam does is not a bad thing, or make you less of a fan then the next guy who loves it, so what's it really matter if some people don't like it or some do? But for people to be mad at some for not liking it is beyond me, and to me that's worse then the people saying it's not a good song.condescending and sarcastic since 19800 -

I'm so pissed they didn't debut this at PJ20! How fucking selfish of them to rob the true fans who traveled from all over the world to be @ Alpine of the opportunity to be the first to witness this song live! I want a refund damnit!
.....(just joking!) LOL!!
In all seriousness, this song fucking rocks and has me wondering when a full release will be on the horizon.
