Spectrum 3 & 4 vs Alpine Valley 1 & 2

someone said last week this would pop up.
Shows that I attend are better (Spectrum), but a PJ show is a PJ show in my book...meaning they're all great.I've met Rob

Temple of the Dog are boring and overrated, thus Spectrum shows win.
And if you didn't get the "vibe" in Philly, you're in serious denial.0 -
The entire "vibe" and aura, and just the atmosphere of this weekend will NEVER be matched by any other performance...having to miss the 4 day run at The Spectrum is #1 on my PJ regrets list followed by the Boston Acoustic preset night back in, I think 03'....and the Vic show before Lolla in 07'....
Attended PJ20...from a pure setlist perspective...you can't argue with Philly...you all got more songs...and in my view a more epic setlist...you would be hard pressed to find ANY show that tops the last night in the Spectrum...
For me personally...I would trade my PJ20 tickets for those last 2 nights in Philly...Temple of The Dog was an AMAZING bonus...and while that was cool and that is part of Pearl Jam's history...its not "Pearl Jam"...For me the 4 day run at the Spectrum is the coolest thing they've done EVER...and if you got to go to ALL 4 shows..you've witnessed the pinnacle of Pearl Jam live...thats just my 2 cents though...Cincinnati 06'
Lollapalooza 07'
Bonnaroo 08'
Columbus 10'
Noblesville 10'
Alpine Valley 11'

Both were amazing, but Philly hands down for me. And they kind of line up too - Philly 3 was kind of a better 'rarities' set and Philly 4 was the longer set that just touched on the whole catalog of music. Alpine 1 was full of rarities and Alpine 2 had more of the hits.

I didn't go to Alpine (unless listening via cell phone counts 8-) ). I went to all four Philly shows. Philly 3 was the best setlist, period. Philly 4 was a big party, not as tight, ridiculously long, gets bonus points for the Devo costumes and "Out of My Mind."
But I think PJ20 and the Spectrum shows are very different events, and I really don't know how you could compare them.
Oh well. At any moment, someone will pop up and say that the 2010 MSG shows were better than AV and Philly.

I agree 1000%.. Hunger Strike was cool but than 7 other songs with Cornell?? I MUCH preferred to hear 7 other PJ songs..In Hiding, Present Tense, Corduroy, Go, Animal etc..Great time, band sounded great and even had a great time in Wisconsin but now I am thinking I should have picked my original location...Toronto0 -
Not fortunate enough to go to PJ20 ...
looks like so far not many have compared who did see both.
Spectrum was unbelievable for me, I can't imagine anything better
but I think the specialness of a 20 year celebration might win over
for those lucky enough to do it all.0 -
I was at all 4.
As shows go, stand alone, Philly 3 and 4 were a lot better.
The vibe, the other bands, the museum, the amount of fans from all sorts of places, all the little surprises and the venue itself, PJ20 was better overall.
I dont think its a fair comparison though. Apples to oranges.0 -

for the entire thing rolled together, Alpine was better.
both were awesome fun weekends, but if i could only do one over, it would be Alpine
if i could only do one show again, i would go to bonnaroo81 is now off the air

I wasn't at pj20- contrasting setlists between the 2 nights looked killer.
But I was at Philly 3 and 4- the sure length of the shows makes it the greatest IMO.
Would've liked to been at pj20 to compare though!0 -

Spectrum shows were better music-wise. I don't know when they'll top that 42 song stretch..
Alpine was an amazing atmosphere. Every person there was a die-hard PJ fan, so it made the entire weekend that much more special. Things like the Ames bros signing books for $20 and the PJ museum made this weekend the special weekend that I will never regret traveling and spending tons of money on!
The weekend was billed as a destination weekend with friends - I was damn happy to see TOTD!06: 6/3 E.
