I refuse to spend $14.99 to download a show when for the 2003 tour we spent $14.99 for a physical, mastered CD, plus mp3 files.
NO fuckin' way.
Who thinks this way?
"Don't fool yourselves...this technological marvel you've constructed is insignificant next to the power of the force..."
Er...uh...I mean why would you deny yourselves the enjoyment of re-listening to the shows you've attended over pennies?
In the overall scope of cost associated with being a Pearl Jam fanatic, the price tag they've placed on the downloads is cheap.
I spend 2.5x's that twice a week for a tank of gas that I burn up just driving to and from work. I apologize if I'm offending you, but your silent protest over their new bootleg system is stupid. These shows sound great and I'm really enjoying them again and again. The fact that they listened to the fans and provided the FLAC option means a lot to me because it says we mean a lot to them. I don't get your thinking. If you added the cost of the digital bootleg into the cost of their show tickets you are still paying less for a show than you would if you went to see 99% of the other artists out there AND you'd have a copy of the show to enjoy.
I mean holy shit, you guys are spending a ton of money to fly out west to catch a few dates and you're crying over the cost and what they are providing in their new bootleg system?
I just don't get it.
I think the bootleg system is decent and I appreciate their efforts. I like the fact that the artwork is different for each show as opposed to that ugly, lame shit of 2003. The 2000 bootlegs were really nice. The wait for them was difficult but the packaging was cool. In 2003 the wait was reduced but the artwork was sacrificed. It was dull to say the least. I like the direction they've taken.
I disagree with both of you.
This concludes my 5/18 morning rant for the Philly Tailgate thread.
As the shows get better and better, Camden fast approaches. The final week of the first leg will be a scorcher. We here in the North East are extreemly fortunate that the band recognizes their strong fan base here and spoil us with their marathon show visitations. If I lived in Indiana I'd probably be hunkered down in my underground tornado shelter shoving corn up my ass instead of planning for a blowout Pearl Jam Memorial Day Weekend.

NINE MORE DAYS
If you or Pearl Jam want to spring for a high speed internet connection for me, then I'll buy a bootleg. As of right now I have no need for high speed internet as my primary function for my home computer is email, the board, tracking my fantasy sports teams.
I'm not going to spend 12 hours plus downloading a bootleg and by only having digital bootlegs there is a good segment of the PJ population who are not and will not buy bootlegs.
a few things:
1) who plays harmonica at the end of times of trouble on totd?
2) fanch, i saw a really ugly old lady driving a jetta this morning so there goes your theory.
3) good to see YIH is alive and not laying in some ditch next to some road in illinois/iowa.
oh hey moneybags, i could really use some highspeed internet at my house, if youd like you could hook it up and paypal me the funds for that.
Who you callin moneybags?!?!!? I think the Ace has high speed internet, maybe when you and BA are exploring the different uses for the Take 5 bars there, you can DL a few boots.

1. chris does...hes so sexy i might add
3. you forgot the laying in some ditch crying part
"I hear Fanch has a Pimp Cup and loves Kiss. I think that's all that really matters."

i just vomited. is there really a cheesesteak place across the street from it? or were you guys bsing about that too?

I had not thought of the internet connection thing. For that I totally understand your gripe. I've had a cable modem since 98ish?
It takes me less than 30 minutes to download a show in FLAC format and literally minutes in MP3.
I still, however, can't seem to be fast enough to buy a decent seat off of Ticketmaster. Go figure.

it took me over 2 days to download the gorge way back when...i swore i would NEVER do it again but low and behold there i was downloading the 10/3 show of which i have yet to download the artwork, took me about 2 days for that as well just the get the songs! no thanks! bootleg donations accepted here
(but i was able to score borgata tix...who knew!!)
"I hear Fanch has a Pimp Cup and loves Kiss. I think that's all that really matters."
That's all him. I have no knowledge of it. He apparently has been to that part of town more recently than I for some reason that I won't even ponder.
Yes there is a cheesesteak place right across the street from it. I work around that area and its on a major road so its not like its in the middle of the woods somewhere.

yea yea yea, maybe one day ill take you boys seriously!

I've seen Crown of Thorns twice...and Red Mosquito a few times...
But god dammit, I can't catch them playing Smile to save my life....0 for 10...
I am in the same boat as you. Smile is at the top of my list and my wife's list. She is only going to one show in Camden. If they play Smile there I'm worried it will be on the night she's not there to see it. Right now she is supposed to go to night 1 but I think I should rearrange things and have her go to night 2.
Smile was on the setlist at Hershey and, thanks to Stone for shutting things down, never palyed. Ed was drunk but Smile should have been played. That was the perfect night for that song.

Not to be negative, but Hershey was the worst crowd I've ever seen at a PJ show.

Actually Im very happy they played Last Exit...love that song!!
I just purchased the boot this morning, just waiting for the FLAC files to be ready.
There's this song called Crown of Thorns.....maybe you've heard of it.
She's spoiled. She got that at Philly last year. What she really wants is a rare song like Red Mosquito.
