If you are an Oasis fan, you have probably numerous times heard Noel go on an outrageous rant about why _____ is ____ or a/an _____... Most recently, I read a transcript of an interview with him about Radiohead, and how they're terrible because their latest album is about a tree... Something along the lines of "who the fuck writes an album about a tree? And if you do, why an ancient tree? Not even a new tree, a thousand year old tree, who cares?"

The guy makes me laugh with nearly everything he says because it's just so judgmental and nonsensical.

Oasis are masters at saying outrageous quotes to get them on the cover of newspapers/magazines. It's part of their schtick. Before they signed with Creation Records..Epic tried to sign them and used their promotion of Pearl Jam 91-93 as a blueprint to try to get them to sign. So their perception of PJ was based on the cooperate blueprint pushed at them rather than their true interaction with fans, and Eddie turning things upside down and saying Fuck that model, were going to scale back and do things our way. With Oasis for many people its hard to separate the music from the personalities. Their musical catalog is top, but they have said and done alot of dick moves as well.

  • I have never considered Oasis as a good group of musicians. But when someone talks like that of another musician, it's because he needs advertising ... cause as a musician does not put him in the spotlight ... sad but true ...

Oasis just as bad as U2 (well almost) in my book.
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.

Not that I support anyone saying anyone should kill themselves, but you can't get offended every time someone says something anti-PJ. It's beyond me why, but there are people who do not like this band. Deal with it.

My two favorite bands are PJ and the rolling stones. I don't think there are two bands at this caliber that have as many "haters" as they do out there. I've been mocked so many times that I throw up in my mouth every time i hear one of the following:

    "they sucked after Vitalogy"
    "Is Keith Richards still alive"
    "Steel Wheelchairs Tour?"
"Their concerts suck, I only recognized Even Flow and Betterman"
There's Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson......and then everybody else.

I did enjoy when one of them walked off stage and taunted the other brother from the crowd until a fight broke out. That was "Andy Kaufman" type entertainment!!

There was a thread about this a few weeks ago. The interview with Noel & Liam is about 16 years old. Its nothing.

Very true. Its ok for Ed to slate other artists but not the other way round according to some people on here.

Anyway this thread is pointless, much like the other one. Oasis aren't even a band anymore.

I was actually more upset with what was said about George Harrison.

As others have stated, this is just what Oasis has always done to get attention. I'm sure they're more popular in the U.K. than here in the States, but if it weren't for 1-2 songs, and the fact that they're always talking shit, I wouldn't even know who they are. And to me their shit-talking eclipses those 1-2 songs.

Back when they had their 15 minutes of fame in the U.S., I heard more about their antics than the actual substance of their work. Things like Liam heckling the band during the Unplugged set that his throat was too sore to participate in, and various other altercations were much more interesting than their music. And I think they knew that, because they certainly put more work into increasing their notoriety than their popularity.

They're like a bad reality show, only they also happen to record albums that I don't listen to.

I think the only people that think Oasis was one of the best bands of the 1990s are the douche bag brothers in Oasis.

No one more relevant then Oasis... Great post. God knows they are the end all voice of music.

I wonder what Ross Perot is up too? Maybe he can weigh in on foreign affairs?

Wow....harsh! I don't expect everybody to love PJ at all. Everybody has their own opinions in life, but there is a point where you should draw the line! For these guys to talk about Eddie and the hurt he has gone through in his own life AND talking about death to top it all off is going WAY over board!

I met Liam Gallagher, totally expecting him to be a tool. He was friendly, welcoming, chatted for a bit and then ran back up to the stage (it was during 'Don't Look Back In Anger', Noel was singing, he was hanging on 'the wings and I spotted him and started to walk over, he saw me, and waved me over).

I think both brothers say dumb shit because they know they can get a reaction.
Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V
