Showbox Schedule empty between 8/28-9/1
If you are either from Seattle or just a big Pearl Jam fan, you are aware that the Showbox is where musicians big and small come to perform in an intimate club environment. Pearl Jam played a couple shows at the Showbox back in 2002, and more recently, "Nudedragons" (Soundgarden) played a surprise show in 2010 (I was lucky enough to be there, four rows from the stage).
I get regular e-mails from the Showbox notifying me of shows coming up. I noticed that in the calendar, there are no shows scheduled at the Showbox at the market from the 27th to the 1st of September. At the Showbox Sodo (the larger one but not next to Pike's Place market) has nothing on the schedule between the 28th and the 1st. This may be a long shot, now I am talking, loooooooooong shot, but just maybe, Pearl Jam will play a surprise Ten Club show sometime between these dates the warm up for PJ20.
I know that there are rumors floating around of a December west coast tour, but besides that, Pearl Jam will not be playing at all in Seattle on their 20th year. I know they all do love and adore Seattle, so I can't imagine them passing up playing here this year. This is the same band that put on a free concert in Seattle after only 1 year of success.
Come on guys, Ten Club. Please make it happen. And please play Marker in the Sand if you do have the show.
On an unrelated note, today is the 20th anniversary of Pearl Jam's first gig with Dave A. at the drums in Seattle at the Mural Amphitheater. The Mural is where up and coming artists play every summer when the weather is pristine here. Its cool to see Pearl Jam's humble beginnings, and how the crowd probably wouldn't guess that they are watching a band that would still be around filling stadiums around the world 20 years from then. Here's a clip of Pearl Jam playing Breath:

Yep, that would be pretty spectacular. But if that were at all a possibility, I'd wager they'd announce it at the last minute.
Soundgarden didn't announce it until the day of, and it still sold out in 10-15 minutes. I know Death Cab for Cutie announced theirs a day before their secret show at the Showbox Sodo earlier this year, and that sold out in about an hour, and I think that was only because the time their tickets went on sale while alot of people were commuting to work.
I think alot of the people going to PJ20 are hoping for a secret show in the midwest, which seems more feasible. But I am still hoping that they surprise us Seattle fans.
