I voted for Obama and I have to say I'm a little disappointed myself but we've had much worse. I think too much emphasis is put on one man- he doesn't act alone. Looking at the alternatives I'd say we could have much worse. It seems to me that most people that are angry at Obama are using him as a scape goat. It's so much easier to point the finger at one person or one thing rather than understand that the problems we as a nation and the world as a whole face today are complex, have built up over time and over several administrations. I wish people would stop whining about this one person and look at the bigger picture. If we expect ONE person to solve all the problems we have our heads stuck deep in the sand.

I agree with everything you said Brian, but regarding the bold: Please swear you will write this in every political bashing thread about anyone from now on. ;) It would be nice for the ridiculous bickering to stop when everyone thinks the country's problem's are the sole leader's fault. It's the entire system, the big picture as you say, but no one wants to come to terms with that. No one wants to realize that because it would consist of actual THOUGHT and a shift in perception. Because that would give most people a migraine...

no one's trying to one up anybody. I'm still waiting for you to answer my questions. I don't expect an answer any time soon.

I'm not here baiting you. I honestly want to know why people think Obama is doing a poor job. How could he have done it better? I don't know how anyone could have, personally, but I don't claim to know everything.

The thing is, as someone else said, no one leader is to blame for everything. If the slate was clean after every new president took office, then fine, blame them, but there's shit that every president has had to clean up, including Bush Jr. This economic bomb has been brewing for decades. What would McCain have done in this situation? Would he have not bailed out wall street? Would he have let the US default on its debts? Would he still be in Iraq? Would he still be in Afganistan? Would he have killed Osama if he had the chance too?

I think it's important to look at what COULD have been done differently when judging someone's actions. For example, when looking at the aftermath of 9/11, everyone (myself included) lambasted the Bush/Cheny regime for inciting fear and hate and starting a false war. But it's important to think....."what would Kerry or Gore have done in their place?", or even better "what COULD they have done?". Maybe nothing different. I don't know.

All I'm looking for is honest answers to these questions, as I've stated here so many times before, I'm not here to bicker, I'm here for an exchange of adult ideas. But just plainly saying "Bush sucks" or "obama's a pussy" doesn't cut it with me.

I wish people would stop whining about this one person and look at the bigger picture. If we expect ONE person to solve all the problems we have our heads stuck deep in the sand. Until we get leaders who are willing to talk about the problems of peak oil, climate change, very troublesome environmental issues like our severly crippled ocean ecology, rapid decline in species, as well as an unsustainable global economy and social injustices, we'll stay on the same treadmill to nowhere. Name me one leader or would be leader who has addressed these issues in a serious, up-front manner. I'm not saying Obama is a great leader or a poor leader. I'm just saying lets stop whining and start demanding ALL of our leaders take action on these issues which are indicators of a serious global environmental collapse. Let's not forget our role in this also. We all need to learn to live differently and not expect someone else to make everything ok. It's time to look at the bigger picture.

I should have read this before I posted mine! Very well said, man.

wow a very fair and honest question, very cool.
the reason I don't think he's done a great job is because he seems to have done nothing to improve on the mess he was promicing to clean up at least a little we're still at war job's are still a issue..and giving out money was cool but it did nithing to help Americas mess we're in and every time he says he has a plan the next thing we hear is that it was blocked by congress or he trys to make the rep. and dems happy at the same time and ends up getting walked all over(for a man that's been that been to all 57 states thats a shame  )
I believe he really wanted to stop the war but soon as he was elected he stepped right into the wolf's den and got eaten up due to his lack of experiance in ploitics with the heavey hitters..in my opinion he had no idea what he was getting into..well every time I watch the news that's what it looks like to me,I also don't like some of the idea's he has like allowing citizenship to all the or most of the imagrents here illegally now, I don't like the idea of raising taxes. theres more but I gatta get back to work

...it's on my favorites list :D that and CNN and local news and they all say about the same thing but Fox always throws a spin in it's wording and I enjoy the entertainment value,
is the artical I posted filled with un-truths ? if so I apoligize.

your point is a fair one, that he spends too much time trying to be bi-partisan. I hope he's learning that he's going to get nothing done that way. is that way ideal? of course it is. but he's proving to the nation that politics don't work that way. you can't try to work with the opposition. you have to do you what you can do achieve what you wanted to, regardless of bipartisanship.

it sucks, but it's the reality. the republicans have done nothing but try to derail everything he has tried to do in favour of making him look bad. Am I saying that dems wouldn't have done the same thing if McCain was in office? nope. I'm just saying it's a shame that's what happens.

Whom ever we elect president, still has to deal with congress and the house.. It's a shit job. I don't blame Obama, agree with him or not.

Are there people who will represent me better than Obama?, of course.. but even if Ron Paul got elected, do you think he'd really have a say in shit?
