is it gluten free?Sake is usually made from rice, but I suppose it could be made from something else. I know firsthand it goes well with sushi
Spent some time on Google and Wikipedia (my addictions :ugeek:) and discovered the following:
"corn, rice and sorghum also have gluten proteins but are not toxic to celiacs"
from http://www.celiac.com/articles/798/1/A-Word-on-Gluten-and-Beer/Page1.html
"All distilled alcohols are gluten-free."
from http://www.celiac.com/articles/222/1/Gluten-Free-Alcoholic-Beverages/Page1.html
That second page has a long list of gluten-free adult beveragesSounds like anything fermented from non-grain sugars would be gluten-free (Tequila from agave, potato vodka, rum from sugar, wine, honey meed, etc.) Again, I don't have any previous knowledge on this subject I just enjoy researching stuff.
