No re-entry = lesser crowds for the other bands

To me, having no re-entry into the venue is going to keep people out in the parking lot by their beer & food until PJ hits the stage. I for one would have def. went in and out of the venue in order to see some bands early in the day, but now I will most likely wait in the parking lot until the bands hit the main stage. Who wants to be stuck in a place paying $13 a beer and not enjoying some of the music? We should get to pick and choose who we want to see, otherwise, as I see it, many of these bands will have very low attendance, which is ashame. I get that they do not want people going in, coming out 2 tickets, and bringing someone back in, but how many people do you think will be traveling to Wisconsin to "maybe" get in? I do not think too many. So I do not really see this as a problem. Why not use bracelets and stamps if you leave the venue? Just does not make sense to me for their to be no re-entry, but I guess they have their reasons.

than can handle that problem like they handle the bleachers at wrigley.
when you leave the bleacher section they can you out, and when you return, they scan you in.81 is now off the air

You're 100% right. I hate to admit it but I have zero interest in any of the bands except PJ. I won't be entering until 20-30 mins before they hit the stage.0

I really think there will be a midday Saturday appearance either by Eddie or by the whole band for just this reason. Draw the crowds in for some of the early acts.___________________________________________

Your loss. Some of these performers are brilliant.115 bucks for half a haircut by a novice? I want my money back!0

Mike will be playing with Star Anna for 3 songs.
I know I want to see her and Joseph Arthur for sure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

Is it PJ's decision for no re-entry or the venues? I can see why the venue would not want it, $$$, but I would think PJ would want people to come in to enjoy other bands, but not forced to stay for everyone, which will eventually lead to people not going in until late.0

that is also what the 10club area is for - to chill out and relax during the day. For me, I am not sure I can do 12 hours in the venue - definitely not two days in a row0
-
Totally agree with this.. There should def be re entry's allowed.. All you need is a wristband.. Nobody wants to get suckered in the venue for 10 hours, Its a very long day to begin with!0

I can vouch for Star Anna & The Laughing Dogs, Glen Hansard, and John Doe as all being absolutly worth seeing. As far as anyone else, seeing someone live for the first time to me is part of the enjoyment of finding new music to listen to. Obviously we're all PJ fans and are there to see them but why not broaden your musical horizons and try something new?0

I'm sure PJ gets their cut of the concessions.0 -
my money's on the venue keeping you from hitting up your cars/tailgating for food/beer instead of paying $8 inside. if you could tailgate all day and see all the acts, Alpine's gonna lose money on concessions.
i'm sure they'll be some surprises all day, but at the same time you'll probably be able to hear the bands from the parking lot.0 -

From what people have said its $13 a beer not $8.0 -

PJ will get their cut, no doubt, but Alpine has only two acts booked all summer and is going to maximize profits wherever it can.___________________________________________

I figure...
I can stand in a parking lot and drink beer any day... not everyday do I get to check out some new live music.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

Exactly. The venue does not care if we all go see the opening acts. They car about selling tix which has already been done when the show starts. They want as many people in as possible to buy their food and drinks, and no re-entry is the easiest way. Plus, this way is much easier for security reasons.severed hand thirteen2006: Gorge 7/23 2008: Hartford 6/27 Beacon 7/1 2009: Spectrum 10/30-31

I understand that, but the band and/or their management is always going to maximize their profits as well. To think the acts don't play a role in this policy...those people may want to take off the rosey colored PJ sunglasses.0 -

I have tried listening to songs/buying ablums from alot of the bands that are going to be at PJ20. Some I like alot, while others I can not get into. The question is, do I like any of the early bands enough to be stuck in the venue the rest of the day listening to the bands I do not like? That will be a game time decision, but most likely the answer will be no.0 -

From what people have said its $13 a beer not $8.
Yep, its $13. A friend was at Alpine earlier this summer for Jimmy Buffet and it was $13 for 24 oz. beers.
I'll be in the parking lot until right before the strokes come on. That's the only other band that I really want to see...0
