I seriously can't stop listening to the acoustic version of Hold On from the Vs. re-release. I've listened to it every single day for a week now. It's just amazing. I think I even like it better than the Lost Dogs one. Anybody else?
What PJ songs do you think are better acoustic?

A lot, and when I said that I mean A LOT... but one excellent example is 25 minutes to Go (Benaroya Hall) or Masters of War (Benaroya Hall).

Those are the ones that come to my mind right now, but I'm sure there is a full collection out there.

For pj 20, This would be a great slow song in lieu of the strings stuff from 2010.

  • This acoustic version is amazing - probably my favourite song off the remasters.

I like it sooooo much better than the Lost Dogs version. There's something about it.

My favourite version of it though is the rough mixes one - because of eddie's voice. It's perfect - so powerful.

If anyone has got the chords for the acoustic version it would be greatly appreciated....and no, its not on GTW or ultimate guitar.

Not the chords, but here is the tab...this is the way I play it...it's fairly simple.

  • I had to hold off on buying the remasters to save some cash. Anyone know where I can give this a listen?

When it comes to Masters of War the Benaroya version is one that I avoid if I'm honest...I'm not sure who it is thats trying to play a wacky "off tempo" guitar strum but it doesn't work and majorly distracts...

the best versions imo are Letterman and Newcastle 06...

It's funny how everyone has different tastes. Someone else would say the exact opposite. I like both, but I do prefer the heavier version from LD.

I play it the same way he does and it's the same as the Given to Wail tabs.

I think at different times I prefer different versions of it. I've been in a downer mood so right now the acoustic version is preferred as it's definitely deeper and more sad in my opinion, like me right now :D

Wiki says it was from the VS sessions

n 2011, Pearl Jam released a remastered Vs., along with Vitalogy, in three formats: an Expanded Version, a three-CD Deluxe Edition and a Limited Edition Collector's Boxed Set. The Expanded Version features three bonus tracks recorded by Brendan O'Brien at The Site studio during the Vs. sessions: a previously unreleased acoustic version of "Hold On", "Cready Stomp" - a previously unreleased studio outtake, and the band's cover of Victoria Williams' "Crazy Mary" featuring Williams on backing vocals and guitar, which had previously been issued on the 1993 tribute album, Sweet Relief: A Benefit for Victoria Williams. The three-CD Deluxe Edition features both the Legacy Versions of Vs. and Vitalogy with their bonus tracks and a copy of Live at the Orpheum Theater, Boston, April 12, 1994.[32]

This is a top 3 song for me of songs I have yet to hear. Hope to catch it someday!
