Damaged Order (Again)

I'm posting to vent, and I realize that the last thing needed here is more complaining, but I'm hoping to get input from others and to see if anyone has had similar issues.
I finally received my EV Ukulele songs vinyl in the mail today to find the jacket badly damaged (nearly a complete split along the booklet side of the gatefold). When I received my LOXL vinyl, the jacket was badly damaged as well. I requested a replacement jacket, and after nearly two months of one sided communication and shipping of the original jacket back on my dime, I finally received a replacement for that vinyl.
Its incredibly frustrating to wait patiently for 2+ months for my EV stuff to find it this damaged. Ive emailed again this time and am awaiting a response. If I cant get a replacement I've requested a refund.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has encountered damage like this before. I find it hard to believe that Im batting 1000 on damaged goods and nobody else has had similar issues.

You are not alone actually, but I would say that you are lucky to receive a replacement. Whenever the "Into the Wild" vinyl was released, the jacket to mine was damaged (by damaged, I mean the vinyl had punched through the top of the jacket...luckily, the vinyl wasn't damaged). I sent an email to 10C asking if they would be kind enough to send a replacement jacket and was basically told I would either have to accept the vinyl "as-is" or send it back for a refund. I took the response as "tough shit" and didn't pursue it further. I don't plan on trying to resale the vinyl, but it was disappointing to be told that there was nothing they could do about it especially if the actual vinyl itself had been damaged. Ever since, I've been careful about what I order from them. Unless it's fan club exclusive, I go with Amazon. We are the facilitators of our own creative evolution.--Bill Hicks0

Ya I was told that normally replacements werent given. If im given the ultimatum, Im opting for the refund this time. I dont plan to resell either, but I like my stuff to be nice ya know?
Its just annoying that I order vinyl through here because I like to give the club my business when I pass the same records all the time in Amoeba or other record stores and theyre in perfect shape. Its starting to seem silly to buy them through 10C0 -
I agree. I honestly want to give my money to the club as well, but you can't help but be disappointed in them when this kind of stuff arises on a semi-consistent basis. I can't help if the postal service sucks and destroys the stuff I order from them much in the same way that they can't be blamed for the same thing, but to just tell us "too bad, so sad" seems contradictory to the whole "let's do what we can for those who spend good money on the stuff we sell." I've had better service with people selling stuff on EBay.We are the facilitators of our own creative evolution.--Bill Hicks0

Ya I know sometimes the postal service is to blame, but to be fair Ive ordered many other vinyl records online through various retailers including Ebay, Amazon, Acousticsounds, Soundstagedirect and others and have never once had an issue with damage. Yet both individual records Ive ordered through 10C have had significant damage.
The same postal service handles the records, so why the difference?0 -
Anyone else have situations like this?0

My Into the Wild was like a broken record...literally...it was in about 50 pieces when I got it. I had to ship it back to the 10C on my dime but they did send me a new one.0

Again, I agree, but this is the exact reason why I choose to purchase some place else unless there is a fan club exclusive. My issue isn't so much with the damage as it is the response to the damage. I, too, have ordered vinyl from other sources and only once have I had an issue with damage and the party rectified the problem by providing a replacement at no additional cost to me. My problem with 10C is nothing is offered outside of "dealing with it" or "returning it for a refund." Believe me, I am not one to complain about the 10C like many on this board seem to do. I appreciate the things they do for the club members. I just feel like sometimes it's a one-way street. We are the facilitators of our own creative evolution.--Bill Hicks0

Ya but like I said, why is it that records from other sources come through the same postal service without incident? At least in my experience I know it does happen.0 -

Very well put0 -
Yes, my Ukulele Songs on vinyl has a bad split along the top right of the jacket, too..

When I ordered Into the Wild on vinyl from ten club, I must say, it came in perfect shape though..
Anyway, now that I think about it, 50% of the items I ordered from Ten Club had some kind of damages..
for example, I ordered some xmas singles some years ago and all of them except one had ugly creases and bent corners.. the live at the gorge had a crease in the cover, too.. and all of these damages don't seem to be caused by the postal service, because the external package was in good condition..
obviously, I never asked for a refund or return, because I live in Italy and, fuck, you know how much a pain in the ass it would be (not to mention that I ALWAYS receive items from Ten Club after at least two or more months)..
So, you're not alone here, I came with the conclusion that at the Ten Club they don't handle the goods with enough care..
I keep my fingers crossed that the Longing to Belong single and the ukulele deluxe songbook will arrive in pristine condition..0 -

Yeah, i used to order off of GEMM all the time when i had a bad vinyl habit ... those records come from any given record store, all over the world ... and i NEVER had a problem with ANY of them showing up in less than described condition.
I've only ordered one vinyl item through 10c ... Benaroya ... I'm lucky to have gotten a copy, and lord knows I wasn't getting it anywhere else, but it did show up with a significant "bruise" in the top corner of the box.
I don't know WHAT is going on, but it does seem like some sort of issue.
???If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?0 -
i have had split record sleeves and bent corners as well, but I don't think this is Ten club more so the sippers just treat the masses of things they get from ten club like shit and ignore the fact the items are fragile. Ten club is good about replacing damaged things when they can in my experiences with them, but I suppose things and poeple will always slip through the cracks.
I ask you keep this in mind.
ten club is not staffed by hundreds of employees like say amazon or barnes and nobles, so there is always a communication lag as well as a delay in any exchanges and re-shipments.
Just be patient, don't expect same or next day emails, and understand they are trying to do what is right as much as they can. We have all had frustrations with no responses, ticket issues etc... you are not alone. Just keep trying until you get a satisfactory answer, but understand it may take a few weeks and many tries due to the volume of complaints/concerns and lack of staff
good luck in getting your stuff righted, I hope it gets fixed0 -
Nope, you are not alone. I got mine in the mail today and the vinyl cover is damaged along the top edge. I'm very careful how I treat my vinyl (cds, books, dvds, you get the picture). So, to get something in the mail that is in less than pristine or "mint" condition is aggravating. I can have something for years and assuming that it is undamaged when I get it, it looks just as new as the day I got it. So yes, receiving something that is less than perfect is annoying to say the least. Ten C seems to make sure that everything is packed well, so it must be in the process of packing or in the warehouse where it gets abused, I don't think it's in the shipping. Now, on a positive note, I was absolutely amazed by the songbook, they did an awesome job.Hearts and thoughts they fade....
fade away...
I am at peace with my lust.....for Eddie.0 -
My uke book was damaged, I mentioned it on here and wrote the 10c and they just said 'send it back for a refund but we won't send you another because we're sold out.'"If you're not confused, you're not paying attention."0

That blows. Talk about a lose lose: Either keep damaged book or have no book.0
