i didn't immediately think it was islamist terrorists, but i thought it was a some sort of group of people or organization that carried out the multiple attacks. i never imagined it was a lone wolf.
this is what happens when your life is consumed by your political or religious beliefs. i am sure in his fucked up mind there is some way to justify what he did.
at least they caught him alive and that he did not take the quick pussy way out and shoot himself... hopefully at trial we can get some more information out of him as far as motive and what groups he is affiliated with, and that he spends the rest of his life in prison.
to shoot up a youth camp is beyond cowardly. those kids had nothing to do with the government and its policies."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

Tragedy.. that is the first thing I can think of. I never thought this would happen to my country.
Now, we stand together regardless of race, religion or political stands for democracy and freedom.

I completely agree... I can admit religion does do some good but in no way does it have to be a prerequisite for morals or good intentions. The mind set is so archaic and sometimes dangerous!kenny olav wrote:
I don't think anyone should be ashamed if they thought it was Al-Qaeda or some other Islamist group, I mean look at their fucking track record. That's not being ignorant. I'm just sick of being in the middle of a conflict between religious terrorists. The world will be better off without religion. Who knows how or if we'll ever get to that kind of world.
I would dig a world entirely Buddhist tho ...I think that's a mantra that could go along smoothly

'Anders Behring Breivik, the man accused of the murder of at least 92 Norwegians in a bomb and gun massacre, boasted online about his discussions with the far-right English Defence League and other anti-Islamic European organisations...
The disclosure of Breivik's claimed links with far-right organisations came as details continued to emerge about the rightwing Christian fundamentalist and Freemason behind Norway's worst postwar act of violence.
It was revealed that the 32-year-old former member of the country's conservative Progress party – who had become ever more extreme in his hatred of Muslims, leftwingers and the country's political establishment – had ordered six tonnes of fertiliser in May to be used in the bombing. While police continued to interrogate Breivik, who was charged with the mass killings, evidence of his increasingly far-right world-view emerged from an article he had posted on several Scandinavian websites, including Nordisk, a site frequented by neo-Nazis, far-right radicals and Islamophobes since 2009.
The Norwegian daily VG quoted one of Breivik's friends, saying that he had become a rightwing extremist in his late 20s and was now a strong opponent of multiculturalism, expressing strong nationalistic views in online debates.
Breivik had talked admiringly online about conversations he had had with unnamed English Defence League members and the organisation Stop the Islamification of Europe (SIOE) over the success of provocative street actions leading to violence.
"I have on some occasions had discussions with SIOE and EDL and recommended them to use certain strategies," he wrote two years ago. "The tactics of the EDL are now to 'lure' an overreaction from the Jihad Youth/Extreme-Marxists, something they have succeeded in doing several times already."
Contacted by email, the EDL had not answered...'0 -

But apparently it's not guns that kill people, it's people that kill people!
I wonder whether he'd have been able to kill so many people armed with just a knife?

Words cant describe how sorry I am for the Norwegian people. I read that the maximum he can get in prison is 21 years. Surely this can't be true ?DUBLIN~~22-6-10

That is correct. 21 years is the maximum penalty in Norway.
What a tragedy... A close friend on mine lost her sister to the bomb in the city. It is not 100% sure yet, but she is still missing and were on her way out of the target building just before the bomb went off. They havent found her body yet, but that has most likely a natural explanation... Words cannot describe this. It is special to see the country face such a tragedy, but it warms now to see the whole nation being one. It is touching to see how much care and love that blooms on every steet corner and inside all my fellow countrymen.
Also, thanks for the international support. It really means alot in times like these to know there are people outside the borders that wants to show compassion and support.
Stay safe everyone,

i am sorry to hear about your friend. that is just awful.
in spite of this terrible tragedy, i think a great thing is happening in Norway right now. the entire country is coming together and becoming unified. they are becoming unified against the far right extremist who did this and those of his ilk. people of all faiths and ethnicities are coming together, which is the exact opposite of the goals of this piece of shit attacker and the nationalist groups with whom he has associated. it just proves that the power of tolerance and acceptance will overcome the idealogies that aim to divide and separate us.
he may only get 21 years in jail, but i think that him realizing that he threw his life away and took over 90 innocemt lives in the process over these extreme right wing beliefs with the end result being the opposite of what his stated and desired goals were is just additional punishment."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
