My only worry about the lawn is that Alpine is going to oversell it to make up revenue lost by only having Pearl Jam and Jimmy Buffett playing there this season.
Unfortunately, I don't think the public demand is there for them to entertain the idea of overselling.

You might be right on that. I will admit that has surprised me a bit. Before tickets went on sale I just assumed both shows would sell out easily.
I'm going with some other people that are not fan club so for my Saturday Lawn we will hang out where ever. We are also planning on hanging in the parking lot for a while grilling, playing bags and listerning to tunes. Did I mention drinking and smoking?
if you go in early, and sit in the 10c cage all day to hold your seat, you will be missing some great music up on the side stages. i think if you are in lawn, you pretty much have to accept that you will be watching the main stage acts from the video screen......might as well roam around and take it all in and then grab any spot you can later.
I'm hoping there isn't a mad rush on Saturday once the "cage" goes down...I'm only 5'6" and people love to push in front of me like I'm not even there whenever I go to a GA event. :(
I might just hang out in the back on Saturday night, but we'll see what happens.
Chicago 2000 : Chicago 2003 : Chicago 2006 : Summerfest 2006 : Lollapalooza 2007 : Chicago 2009 : Noblesville (Indy) 2010 : PJ20 (East Troy) 2011 : Wrigley Field 2013 : Milwaukee (Yield) 2014 : Wrigley Field 2016
you all let us know how the "cage" works out for you on Saturday and then we'll decide
peace,
jo

I agree; I would be shocked if one or both of these shows sell out. Being a holiday weekend where A LOT of people make vacation/family plans, I tend to think that most people planning on going have already secured tickets. I'd say they'll draw similar to what Buffet did last month at Alpine, 28,000-30,000. Which is fine by me. That lawn may be big, but if there's 28,000 fans there, it will look/feel packed in that venue.
As far as "the cage" goes, I'm with the people who will check it out, but it's not a priority. One of the beauties of having lawn seats is the ability to move around, watch the show from different vantage points. Just like back in the day when PJ played GA shows in the U.S., I wasn't big on staying in one location, fighting for hours for my spot. I want to wander and enjoy myself.
I agree with Speedy, I don't think it'll be a problem once the fence comes down at all. I'll be tailgating all day Saturday, so I want to check out the Strokes, Mudhoney, and Queens on Sunday. So I guess whenever they start is when I'll get there!

good question....have not decided. guess i will read sat's review before deciding.
Yeah...
Saturday when I finally "stagger' in to the venue.....hehehehehehe
I am making a "Beeline" to the 10club cage.....
Just to see what the fuck it is all about.....
hehehehehe
Cmon now, you know your gonna end up in there. You honestly want to sit at the top of the lawn???
still debating on which night to check out the secondary acts. thinking the seat night is the night to do that. lawn night i'm thinking of going in a little before the opener takes the main stage
Prolly a bad move, but I am planning on being up more on the lawn and then coming into the cage before the PJ sets each night. Will prolly piss a bunch of people off, but I'm just going to use it to get those closer standing spots for PJ. Don't expect a rush, but there could be some isolated pushing which would cause a lot of heartache.
Go in an hour before Star Anna plays on Sat. Watch Mike rip out the solo from Wolves in Disguise Go into the cage for The Strokes and QOTSA Wander around during PJ

One thing is certain....
On Sunday I will not be sitting in the 10club lawn section.
For various reasons...
Which you and I can discuss on Saturday, while we drink a couple cases of beer.....
Word. We could also discuss your reasons for shunning the cattle corral on Friday whilst im hammering trout to fucking grill in the parking lot of the super 8.
Absolutely no grilling my ass. It's a fucking parking lot. Remember the pool that was brought up about who and when someone is gonna get arrested or kicked out. I fit into all those categories.
No grilling. Pfft.
Just, not enough.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I said, I dont want it.
I just need it.
To breathe, to feel, to know Im alive.

You talking about the pre-party Friday???
Been there..
Done that....
Over crowded, sweaty bar, serving over-priced drinks???
Or kicking back with a few good friends
Pouring my own drinks....
Relaxing....
Its a no-brainer......
Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....

Really? You're already planning on "pushing and shoving" your way up to the front of the cage, pissing people off, and probably ruining their good time, just so you can get closer. You'll probably even trigger a fight.
Nice. Good thinking.

When Da Kid gets to the lawn on sunday, he's there, and not moving. Thankfully, Da Kid was able to obtain reserved seats for sat's show.

I like your way of thinking. The more I think about it...the more I want to avoid that place. Even though I'd love to hear cluthe/lee play.
But I am going to take a pass this time......
Ill see everyone on Saturday and Sunday......
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
looking forward to putting a face to a name...and who knows what other shenanigans will go on.
