meh . . . it is just another example of "astroturfing" . . . fake grassroots backed by money. What really needs to happen is people need to stop buying excessively priced tickets from scalpers (legal & illegal).Remove yourself from comfort . . . all progress involves risk0

um, the article basically says that the organizations are simply fronts for the companies that are backing them, StubHub and Live Nation.Found: Soundgarden Hyde Park DVD (Thank you for the gift!)

I'll support Live Nation in their fight for paperless tickets
The paperless ticket issue is crucial. It's like voting for a democrat or republican, they're both assholes, but one needs to win."If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph: The only proof he needed for the existence of God was music." KV Jr.0 -

But to my eyes, Live Nation's fight for paperless tickets is just a way to push StubHub out of the resale market. Once that's done, LN will devise a way for the original purchaser of the ticket(s) to transfer ownership to someone else... for a small fee of course.frisbiec wrote:meh . . . it is just another example of "astroturfing" . . . fake grassroots backed by money. Agreed. You might just have to sit out once or twice to make your point. When enough people do it, change will come.0 -

how about they fix the ticketmast site so that comman fans have a real chance at good tickets, and then, while they are at it, they can stop selling tickets to brokers before the sale81 is now off the air

It is NEVER wise to trust Ticketbastard/Live Nation at ANY time. Here is an example. Two summers ago, Live Nation announced 'no service fee August' and said they were dropping the service fees on all shed shows (the outdoor amphitheater shows). Sounds noble, but it was BS.
The day before they waived all of the lawn fees, they DOUBLED the price on the tickets. I have the proof, hard copies of tickets bought to see Maiden from before the announcement. So, there was zero dollars savings.
another thing to know is it used to be if you went directly to a venue's box office, those fees were waived. That is no longer the case.
*** now, with that being said, here is the potential problem about using a paperless ticket and will call system (which is what ten cub does). if the whole show is paperless, then you have 20,000 people in line at will call every show. That would be a logistical nightmare to execute on.
I did a write up on my site with specifics if you are interested. It is here - http://iamcorrect.wordpress.com/2010/06 ... them-dead/
I also have a FB group called 'stop ticketmasters called 'Stop Ticketmasters 100% service fees'.
http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gi ... 2059405782
It would be smashing if you could spread the word on that and join. actually, for many lawn seats, TM fees are now running 150% of ticket face value. For example, Motley Crue's last show advertised for $10 lawn seats... the cost was actually $25 per ticket after fees.www.IamCorrect.com0 -
