10) MTV Awards 1993 with Neil Young. This was the "Rockin in the Free World" episode and was simply electric.

09) VH1 Storytellers in 2006. Q&A with fans plus poignant music equals good television.

08) First Appearance of Saturday Night Live, April of 1992. A lot of people tuned in to see Sharon Stone in cheesy bits, but it was the rocking chords of PJ right when the "grunge" genre was taking off that makes this appearance memorable.

07) Vedder singing the National Anthem at the NBA Finals in 1998. C'mon, a perplexed Bob Costas with the best facial expressions segueing into Vedder cranking out the Anthem? That was awesome.

06) Pearl Jam appears on Letterman, May of 2006. This was cool because after their appearance, they played a bunch of songs in the Ed Sullivan theatre that was simulcast on the Late Show website. It's not every day you get to hear them perform "Why Go" live.

05) Vedder and Sean Penn interview on Charlie Rose. This was a personal favorite of mine. You can tell that the two (Penn and Vedder) really admire each other in a non-sappy way. Very poignant interview and worth checking out on the web.

04) MTV Unplugged, 1992. Where were you on May 13th, 1992 when this episode originally aired? This was simply fantastic television, with my personal favorites being "Porch" and "State of Love and Trust." If you're reading this, obviously you've seen the show but it's gotta be one of their most famous and vibrant sets of the 1990s, if not ever.

03) Saturday Night Live with Emilio Estevez, 1994. Easily the best episode of SNL ever. Sandler doing Opera Man. An awesome version of "Daughter." An inspiring version of "Not For You." What can you say about "Rearview Mirror?" And those TV promos leading up to the show. Cheesy, yes. But great television.

02) Slew of videos, 1992. "Jeremy" was great. "Even Flow" and "Alive" kicked ass. Perhaps the most iconic moment of PJ video history was Vedder jumping off the scaffold into the crowd. History making music with ground-breaking videos changed the music industry forever. Traditional rock and roll has never been the same.

01) I'll leave it up to you. What's your number one moment of all-time involving the greatest band of all-time?

#10 should be #1, along with the performance of Animal preceeding it.

    I can also tolerate #4 as #1.

I know, but I think when he sang it they cut to another segment. I've seen the video footage on Youtube but I'm pretty sure it wasn't part of the original broadcast.

    1) Ed sticking it to 'the man' with his speech at the 96 Grammy Awards. I wonder why PJ haven't won one since?

You might be right about that, although I thought I saw it live at my buddies house at the time and on those TV paparazzi shows (Entertainment Tonight, etc.). Costas was funny, though huh? That's the same guy who screwed up the Larry Bird gala by saying "Is Joe Bird here?" (Joe Bird, Larry's father had passed away and Costas apparently didn't know that).

    What's your #1 moment?

Yeah, what was it they were doing?

Oh yeah, 9/11 relief. Tribute to Heroes. That little event in history.

    How could you forget that?

Couple others to mention (sorry if they were and I missed them)

1992 Pinkpop Ed jumps off the crane with the tv camera into a crowd of 55,000 or so. Madness.

Not sure of the year, but when Ed came out on Letterman and sang the line of Black and held the crazy long note then just took off and Dave had to chase him, hahaha.

Good Catch, Uncle Josh. PinkPop was great. Didn't see Letterman episode, but sounds funny. Too bad Larry "Bud" Melman couldn't hold him for Dave!
