I've been a member since 1998 and my number is like 165XXX and i've never been closer than the 13th row (that was the Ice Bowl at Alpine Valley in 2000) and it seems like my seat get worse with each passing year at every show I go to. In Chicago in 2006 I was back in like row 35, then about the same or worse at Marcus later that summer (though that could have been partially because it was the co-headlien with Tom Petty so I let it slide) , was off to the side in 2009. Been in upper balcony or literally last row for all three E.V> solo shows I've been too. Not complaining, love being part of 10C but I am hoping I get some good seats for PJ20. But with every 10C member in the free world coming to the show I am not holding my breath...R and R Station - Mar 26, 1992 ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Aug 29, 1992 ** Summerfest Milw - Jul 08, 1995 ** Summerfest Milw - Jul 09, 1995 ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Jun 26, 1998 ** ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre (E.V. at Tibetan Freedom Concert) - Jun 13, 1999 ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Oct 08, 2000 ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Jun 21, 2003 ** United Center - May 16, 2006 ** Summerfest - Jun 30, 2006 ** Riverside Theatre Milw (Eddie Solo Tour) - 2008 ** United Center - Aug 23, 2009 ** The Chicago Theatre (Eddie Solo Tour) - Jun 29, 2011 ** Orpheum Theatre MN (Eddie Solo Tour) - July 2, 2011 ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Sep 03, 2011 ** Alpine Valley Music Theatre - Sep 04, 20110

To be clear, no I don't like the lottery...it brings chance into a matter (seniority), that should have nothing to do with chance...but if I were a recent, high numbered member, I'm sure I would not turn 1st or 2nd row down. 10C seniority still matters, but it hasn't mattered as much in the last several years.www.twitter.com/robert_harbin0

I believed I joined in late 1996... member #148xxx
My fan club seats have had me in...
St. Louis 2010 - Row 8
MSG II 2010 - Row 21 (somewhere around there)
Chicago II 2009 - Row 22
Chicago I 2006 - Row 16
Chicago II 2006 - Row 14
Thunder Bay 2005 - Row 3
Chicago 2003 - Row 14
Smaller markets, obviously, will put you in a much better seat. My sister has a number around 178xxx... back in 2000, her fan club seats got us row 3 in Memphis. Of course, those were back in the days where each member only got to pick one show.Post edited by wnh1977 on1998: 6/26, 6/27, 6/29

Yeah, the Ten Club seats for the EV shows were so random. I heard of members being a few rows from the stage and some members all the way in the back and your member number had no bearing on the seat location. Made me really appreciate the seniority based seating for PJ I'll tell you that much!0 -
nothing change all this years..1-2,9-10 rows are lottery..the rest seniority..only complainers changedNoload wrote:To be clear, no I don't like the lottery...it brings chance into a matter (seniority), that should have nothing to do with chance...but if I were a recent, high numbered member, I'm sure I would not turn 1st or 2nd row down. 10C seniority still matters, but it hasn't mattered as much in the last several years."...Dimitri...He talks to me...'.."The Ghost of Greece..".

No they do not. I've hit it twice.0 -

A new fan wins the lotto, your response should be 'welcome to the club, congrats, and enjoy'!0 -

This does not sound right, are you sure this is still your number and it didn't get changed to the 400K's without you knowing? This number should be getting you better that that.butte1 wrote:I've been a member since 1998 and my number is like 165XXX and i've never been closer than the 13th row (that was the Ice Bowl at Alpine Valley in 2000) and it seems like my seat get worse with each passing year at every show I go to. I have been in since 94 # 84xxx, it has blessed me with seats ranging from first row to about 12th. I have been farther back consistently- every show since lottery started. Do I like being further back, of course not, but I also don't mind letting some new blood see them up close and personal.
I think the main thing is the fans in the upper numbers lets say 100k and down, are hard core long timers that won't ever let their numbers lapse intentionally. They also travel to many many shows per tour, so the same block of people are always up there. You start to see familiar faces/people after a while. Most of them, including the old ladies I see there, still rock their asses off. But getting older collectively has made the energy of the front maybe seem less enthusiastic than the old days. I can tell you that is not true, but many certainly dance around less and bang their heads less, so they get labeled statues. I can tell you this, most of the people being called statues in concert reviews on this site are the lottery fans to be honest. Sure some are rockin the shit out of row 1 and 2, but I have seen many and who knows if they are executive big whigs and not fan clubbers there anyhow. standing with a beer in one hand, and not move in unison with the music once all night. I think those people irk the old timers, we got moved back for them? The number system of seating spoiled us rotten for many years, the changes made a few tours back were a change for many veterans of 20 plus shows at least. That was a hard pill to swallow, when the experience you have come to know and expect is now completely different.
My first fanclub tickets gave me 7th row to Milwaukee 95, where I stayed in range rows 1-7 until lottery. From that point I have been moved back 2-4 rows every show save St.Louis, and the Vic which was GA up front. So worst I had was and MSG show in row 11. I don't call that a bad seat, but it aint row 5, and there is a helluva a different view and experience between row 11 and 5/6/7. Yeah many would kill for row 11 I know, and I am appreciative of row 11, but it aint row 5. So people cannot get mad when even the old timers get a little miffed about being taken out of say row 1 where you interact with the band sometimes, to row 3 where you watch the people in front of you interact just out of your reach. Yeah it is like bitching about getting 5 pounds of gold not 10, while a shit load of people are getting 3 pounds of nickel.
I think the majority of the sub 100k club are fine letting the newer fans get the experiences they have enjoyed in past. So before you blanket statement rip on them, put yourself in their shoes and think how you would feel. yeah here comes the I would love 5th row what are you bitching about thoughts, again, think of it from their POV (mine too, to an extent I guess). I personally am happy to see the new faces, and I can live with 2 more rows of folks in front of me
peace see you at the 200 -

OH GOD it is way better up front! The nuances, facial expressions you catch, the interaction of the band with each other. Seeing them play the instruments up close, especially Mike, seeing the stage setup clearly, the guitar picks, tambourines, drum sticks, setlists..all only possible up front. It is pretty cool when you are rocking the shit out of your head, neck and spinal cord and someone in the band points and smiles, winks, shit even glances over. I know it is some Freudian I want attention stupid mop thing, but When Jeff laughed at my Sweet Lew sign in Milwaukee I was like a little kid who just got a high five from his Dad. You are just way more connected to the performance. Hope you win the lottery D, as you would dedicate another 20K posts to it alone!0 -
there was a huge thread on this when seniority started, massive debate, bitching, whining, me included, but one member said it best, why should I be in essence penalized for being born later than you? I think they system is not perfect, but it now gives all a chance to be there, and still rewards the been with the band since the start crew. Really we cannot ask for more....other than a server that works

I'm 203XXX but I usually get side stage because Chicago's such a popular market. I went to the UC shows a few years ago and met an old friend the first night - she's been a huge fan since the beginning like me, but just finally joined the 10C at that time. She hit the lottery (her first PJ show ever!) and got 9th row - I've never seen a happier person in my life! I was super happy for her, just wish I could have switched seats with her hubby

My number is 61,xxx and I am cool with the lottery. I have been fortunate to be up close at my fair share of shows and I love the experience. My 10c ticket experience makes going to any other bands show a far off 2nd. I feel for the peeps with higher numbers and hope they get a chance to win the lottery. Let's keep sharing the love.0
