I do really like the 2 guys on there in the morning Sherman and Tingle...I throw them on the radio every now and then in the morning...that is, until they start playing another song by Disturbed...
I like Sherman and TIngle a lot too (minus the Disturbed songs). This is a bummer, I don't know what I'll listen to during my morning drive now. Everything else sucks.
If you can get reception, I strongly recommend Tom and Lisa on 95.1 (Will Rock!). They're a riot, and they play better music.0 -
That was really cool of Electra to give a shoutout for the ed preparty fundraiser for the wishlist foundation.0

Anybody remember WCBR ("Chicago's Bear")? 'Twas truly a sad day when they pulled the plug on that station.0

i stopped listening to commercial radio regularly in 2003 maybe. 2004. im a sucker for pop songs, so i will occasdionally turn on my local pop station and then the rock station as well, to see the popular songs of the day.
all in all, alternative music to me is pretty much dead. that term stopped meaning something when kurt died. i can appreciate the bands who write catchy tunes, thats something that is often overlooked in the debate over whats commercial and whats good. that takes some talent. but overall, im not really into breaking bejamin or nickelback, or three days grace or any of that.
as far as radio stations go, the only two worth checking out are KCRW in LA and then KEXP in seattle. thats it.
i find the term alt music so outdated its laughable. same with the grammy category of alternative music. when was the last alternative album released? 1994? 1995?0 -

Where did you guys hear this news?! This is the first I've heard of it!
This sucks, I've been listening to this station since I was 13 years old. Yeah, they play the same crap over and over, but they occasionally play some real gems. And I love Electra's last letter game. Any details on when this is happening? Their website doesn't mention anything...Chicago 2000 : Chicago 2003 : Chicago 2006 : Summerfest 2006 : Lollapalooza 2007 : Chicago 2009 : Noblesville (Indy) 2010 : PJ20 (East Troy) 2011 : Wrigley Field 2013 : Milwaukee (Yield) 2014 : Wrigley Field 20160 -

This blows. What are we supposed to listen to now, Kiss FM? Q101 and The Loop are my two favorite radio stations. I first heard Pearl Jam on Q101!!!

I'm pretty sure the Loop is staying as is. I feel like the Loop has gone down a bit lately though...paying garbage like Nickelback, Bon Jovi, etc.. Looks like it will be down to XRT and the drive for me.0 -
XRT is the only station worth listening to in chicago... real DJs actually choosing the songs
Q101 was just always playing pseudo metal goth tween bullshit
good riddance
i heard "the loop" is gone too... poor loop rock girls... all those breasts and no where to flaunt them :(0 -
