Elderly Woman used during commercial for Rescue Me

So the final season of "Rescue Me" is about to start on F/X, and I heard this during the commercial:

"Hearts and thoughts they fade...fade away..."


Honestly, it's not the meaning of the song, if you ask me. And what is up with all the commercialization lately? Ever since Ledbetter during the finale of Friends, things have totally changed.


For a finale, Ledbetter is a song about saying goodbye. Elderly Woman is a song about seeing someone you haven't seen in a while.

    Now who is it up to that the songs can be used? The band or is it Sony/Epic or they both have to agree.

    I thought it was about seeing your self and realizing you have not done anything with your life because yoiu were stuck in a small town.
