Love them both, but I have to say go with the 2006 version. Nice change up and packs a lot of punch. The new version has actually been on a wishlist I have for PJ20 funny enough.

Original. I felt cheated when I heard the new version without knowing about it first.

They can play whichever version they want, I was just super excited to hear it in Noblesville last year.

I feel like they are two completely different songs. But if I had to chose, I'd go original.

I saw old Garden with DA on drums at least 5 times in 1993 and 1994(Boston,San Diego, Arizona) and when DA took the lead on drums and Mike McCready and even Eddie fed off of his insanity there was nothing like it and it became my favorite song live. I saw Jack Irons do a pretty good Gargen in Canberra and Wisc. in 1995. All versions from then on have been good but no insanity. I mentioned my observation to Mike McCready in Mexico City at breakfast at the Four Seasons Hotel before the concerts there and he agreed that "Garden" new or old is different today and that at that time they did not play the song much because they could not get it right. This is one man's opinion from a long time fan.

Original . . . if only for the intro. That's what makes my skin tingle... that intro is way better than the "new" one

Sounds about right. They soundchecked Garden at Jones Beach in 2000 but the drums just kept not having the right timing. MC just couldn't seem to follow it and they just stopped playing. Its one of a long list of songs i'll never see performed the way I'd love to hear them.
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

I was at all 3 Jones Beach shows in 2000 and I also remember the soundcheck of garden but was not played at any show at that venue. Good memory! Garden without DA cannot be dupicated but overall Matt is a better drummer.
