Too true!
A Montreal must is Schwartz's Deli - http://www.schwartzsdeli.com/index_eng.html at 3895 Saint-Laurent Boulevard. If you don't trust my review, check out the ones below
Consistently ranked #1 deli in Montreal for over the past 80 years, our reviews have been in numerous restaurant guides and newspapers, but maybe we can give you some of the quotes we've received:
"A Beef on Rye to Freeze to Death for!"
- Financial Times of London
"The best place in the Milky Way to sample smoked meat sandwiches!"
- Time Magazine
"When you're in Montreal, you must go to Schwartz's"
- New York Times
"A Montreal legend for 80 years. So what's the big deal? It's the viande fumé that overwhelms two slices of rye."
- National Geographic"What the CANUCK happened?!? - Esquimalt Barber Shop0 -

dottles wrote:Hiya,
I set up a facebook group last night for the discussion/arrangements of trains between gigs, trips (one to Niagara Falls is being planned for the 10th - I know many people have said not to bother, but seems I am flying over the pond I want to see as much as I can). It is called Pearl Jam Canada Tour 2011 - Trains and Things.
I can't link to it here as I am work and can't access facebook from my work network, but can do tonight.
All ideas gratefully received and we thought that people could post when they've booked trains or buses etc, and that others may wish to join them etc...
We did a similar thing last year between the Dublin and Belfast gigs and the train journey was great.
not sure why someone would say "not to bother" re niagara falls
definitely check it out if you are traveling from across the big pond
it's beautiful and majestic!0 -
The falls are great to see. The area is one massive tourist trap. I always suggest, go see the falls, take some pictures etc. Then go to Niagara on the Lake and some of the wineries there.0

Thanks (and helplessdancer) I figured it would be touristy, and I'm not interested in a casino or alike
I do like wine though

Don't listen to him Leanne... unless you want to root for the team with the longest losing streak in hockey.... 44 years and counting! Just think, you could be 43 years old and have never seen your team win Lord Stanley's Mug....
I lived in T.O for 2 years and never got sucked into their crappy hockey realm :P
Go Habs Go!Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.0 -
If you can bring your bike, Montreal is a great city to see via bicycle! Did it in '08 during EV's solo tour.0

Who's staying the extra day, Sept 8th in Montreal? We can plan something out. Group traveling the city or what not.

We were up from Boston visiting Montreal the night of game 5 (Bruins defeat Canadians in OT.) We were SHOCKED at how nice everyone was. Neither Bostonians in the Bronx nor New Yorkers on Yawkey Way would have been treated as nice as we were___________________________________________
