what would you do to rectify the current situation? like right now, with the approaching deadline.

Taxes need to be raised AND spending needs to be cut. Anyone who doesn't think both are part of the solution is an idiot, IMO.

Raise the debt ceiling only after the Dems concede to cut everything Pual Ryan wants to- TRILLIONS.

No cuts? Then no raising the debt ceiling. US defaults on debt, sending shockwaves throughout the global economy and spiraling us all into a world of fucked up that nobody has ever seen.

Hang it around Obama's neck and let the Democratic party wither on the vine.

What? Not hopey-changie enough for you? Enough with these treasonist bastards.

I'm an American living in Canada. How do you think the deficit should be reduced? Cutting social programs isn't going to do it alone. Everyone's going to have to make sacrifices, services should be cut, as should the military budget (can someone please explain why we almost spend more than the rest of the world combined?)... But, taxes also need to be raised to a point, even just back to Clinton or Reagen levels.

Lets start with ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and save twelve billion dollars a month. And lets raise taxes on the top 1% of income earners. For a start.

I don't know how but he could do some home work and see how other presidents did I guess.
what the hell did people think was going to happen when he started handing out money..nothing is free
espcially when dealing with a polition.

Well, last time we had a surplus was under Clinton, and taxes were higher. Under Reagen they were higher than current levels as well. Bush lowered taxes and spent like a drunken sailor, and Obama stupidly continued those tax cuts.

I think it's ironic that a majority of PJ fans supports raising taxes but this message board goes to DEFCOM Level 5 whenever PJ or 10C raise prices on tickets or memberships.

    Inconceivable!

I have been very critical of Obama for following Bush’s bankster bailout policies. And I thought his reliance on Robert Rubin & the RR Choir (Summers, Geithner, et. al) was ill advised.

But I don’t understand those on the far right who seem to believe that deficits were created on January 20th, 2009.

Consider this chart — it shows the National Debt as a percentage of GDP. Its pretty telling:

There was an increase. Unfortunately, 'doing his homework' and looking at past presidents, tax rates may need to go back to what those past presidents had.

"Ask Republican constituents if they're willing to compromise their kids' safety so some corporate jet owner continues to get a tax break,"
Obama said, while he denied engaging in "scare tactics."

he characterized the debate for Republicans as a choice between revamping a tax code that favors millionaires and depriving children of government aid.

    what a fucking douchebag

Republicans are adamantly opposed to anything that resembles a tax hike :D SMART

"It is predictable. It is going to come. What we've got to do is continue to press our case with the American people that cutting spending now and dealing with our long-term debt will help create a better environment for job creators in our country," Boehner said.

knock knock.....these people are the millionares and if they don't want to play, they wont. If they don't play and keep their powder dry, they still get the filet while people suffer unemployed. This is how it works. This is why there is so much money on the sideline. OBAMA
