I am pretty sure X number of vinyls were ordered for the tour ahead of time. When the "problem" happened at the plant a decision had to be made, fill the pre-orders with the designated copies routed for the tour or have the people with pre-orders wait. Since many were slated to be shipped with merchandise arriving later anyways, Im sure it was better to have those sold on tour rather than be stuck with a ton of extra copies down the road.

Does it suck for those who havent got their vinyls yet? Yes. But this is the most rational conclusion i can make.

Of course we can exchange ideas. I'm saying you have every right to be upset. I'm not thrilled with it but, I'm also not going to let it bother me in any way.

There are other things much more important in life. Like is my wife ok in Ethiopia and Kenya the last 2 weeks living in the slums of these areas scouting these areas for clean water wells and other projects we are working on. I don't have any contact with her at all.

So what I'm saying is, the issue over whether my record comes to my house before the 4th of July seems pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Sounds like a great place for charging stations and WiFI hotspots like they will have at the festival!

It's the next thing I am bringing up at the next board meeting. There is no way we should be taking trips over there and hoping we can find an internet cafe near an airport. We are non profit(well soon to be) so everything needs to be voted on.

Of course there's more important shit. I thought it was obvious that we come to places like Pearl Jam message boards to discuss trivial shit. It's called context.

By the way, pot and kettle dude...
No chance I'd go. After PJ20 the concert run is over for the year.

2 Bright Eyes shows, Social Distortion, Eddie Vedder, My Morning Jacket and PJ20. If PJ would play in Philly I'd reconsider but definitely no more trips. It's not even a trip I'd make if it was my only show.

On the serious shit, it sounds like you're up to some good stuff over there and I wish nothing but the best for you and your wife in your efforts.
  • Just re-reading this and it's going on, isn't it? Some (erm) real constructive stuff coming out now ;)

Anyway, I'm not too annoyed about not getting my order but the after sale service and delivery isn't great (with the exception of the mp3s). Accepting that there may have been some fuck up at the manufacture stage, that to me doesn't automatically suggest that Ed's solo shows should have vinyl and we, who have already paid, shouldn't.

I run my own business and one of the basic rules of good cutomer service is: you fuck up, it comes out of your pocket. So, getting my vinyl late is a little annoying but I accept that there was just a problem, that's okay, these things happen. However, getting my vinyl late and knowing that I have been deprioritised because there was a fuck up somewhere at their end and they think someone else who may buy it in the future is more important; well, that is just a slap in the face. I don't care if that is someone at a gig or not, a client is a client is a client.

Basic principle: make clients feel good and they'll keep coming back, make clients feel like someone else is more important and they just might not...
we're all going to the same place...

I was never trying to debate you honestly. I have no problems with people being upset. some just go overboard.

Some credible arguments are probably going to be lost in your delivery. I think if everyone keeps cool, maybe some constructive discussion can happen between us and the 10c. Hopefully, at least.

I know..I was just in a real foul mood when I posted that. It's hard tho, you know..they act like they are doing this as a free favour for us, and that we are simply ungrateful if we show anything less than total adoration of them.

Dimitri- I can respect that. I think my frustration was targeted more at the folks who keep brown-nosing about how very hard 10c works for us. If I am paying someone to provide a service, I am not going to kiss their rears for it. Do any of us expect our butts to get kissed just for doing the job we get paid to do?

i didnt say you are wrong asking about great service,i just think that when you wear a uniform you learn to respect people work more cos you believe in honor and different codes than civilians.,even if its boxing cds and dont be ironic and if its "hard work"..
i wear 20 years now Greek Airforce uniform and im not working in Airforce...i serve my country..its not even work be in military..all im saying is be a marine is a hard work, but there are people cook in marines..and others cleaning toilets..they are the same important as the ones carrying a gun,,that i try to tell you,and not that i dont agree with you about you pay for membership and you want good service..as i said in my first post il, comment only the military part of your post..and sorry but i disagree about your opinion about "hard work"..the demand of having good service you are right..i agree with you

    That's not cool.

While I agree that keeping things in context is important in these types of discussions (ex. of course getting a vinyl isn't more important than earthquake victims - but we're only concentrating on music on this forum), that comment was out of bounds. Would be nice if this thread stayed open.
