Any more news on this? I have an actual, serious reason for wondering if there will be power outlets available at this thing.

Best post in this thread. Can we really not get through two shows without posting on facebook?

Coverage I guess is not the best at Alpnie Valley. That dramatically reduces battery power. I just went ahead and found a little solar charger.

My reason for asking is a little embarrassing, but fuck it, none of you people know me ...

I recently got arrested for a DWI, a first offense. As part of my plea deal, I have to blow into an alcohol monitoring device three times a day, during specific windows, for the next six months.

The device is fairly portable. It is lightweight. It will fit in a standard backpack. The only problem is, it must be plugged into a power outlet in order to work.

I need to blow between 5 and 8 p.m., and again between 10 and midnight. I would only need a power outlet for sixty seconds, tops, on each occasion. And then it's back to the show(s).

Having never run afoul of the law before, I'm not sure how big a deal it is if I miss one of my scheduled tests.

The device comes with a cigarette adapter for the car, so if Alpine Valley would allow in-and-out privileges, that would solve my problem. But it doesn't sound like that's an option.

If the venue has an office, or a concession stand, or if there's just a random outlet in a wall somewhere, that would fix things, too. Like I said, I don't need it for more than one minute.

slightofjeff: make sure you get permission to travel (assuming you are not from wisconsin) and can't you request an ankle bracelet that tests for alcohol use? http://www.alcoholmonitoring.com/

if not, i'm sure you will be able to find an open outlet somewhere especially if you have expo passes, but at the very least you would probably be able to leave the device and use it in the med tent. i would email 10C or alpine valley to see what they say.

I'm thinking I can blow at 5 in the parking lot before going into the show ... I don't care about being there all day ... you think I can be back to my car by midnight without missing any of the show?

If not, what's the worst they can do to me if I submit a passing test at 12:15 or 12:30, proving I wasn't drinking?

like conman said, check with your PO, if they say blowing 15 to 30 minutes late is okay, then your good. there may be a grace period, especially if you are clean. but you should double check before you go to be safe. also, i really think you would be able to leave something like that in the med tent with no problem and just pop in when you need to.

the worst they could do is violate your probation (unlikely if it's your only technical violation) but do you really want to find out or have this count as a strike against you for no good reason?

this is a rock concert. you don't need hotspots or charging stations. it will be ok to have your phone die and be out of touch with the rest of the world for a couple hours.

    Thanks for the advice.

PS -- You also reminded me, the med tent might have a power outlet I could borrow for a quick second.
