Lastyear DMB promoted a whole year for CITI FIELD. They did not come close to selling out. DMB in most opinions are bigger then PEARL JAM.....media as well. Now I know on these boards PJ dominates, BUT 1 out of 5 people know DMB before PJ. With this in mind, and as big as DMB is with years full of promotion they didnt sell out CITI FIELD.....Do you really think PJ will pack out Fenway in 3 months??? really??? really???

The rumor may or may not be false.

But if you don't think Fenway would sell out for this, you just aren't paying attention.

Edit - oh and the thread title is incorrect.

It should be "Facts about CitiField and DMB - Assumptions about Fenway and PJ"

    I believe that's a contradiction.

But anyway, I don't care one way or another if they play Fenway because it's too far from me. But I've seen a handful of shows in Boston and Hartford and I think they'd sell out Fenway. Capacity for baseball is about 35,000 or so, give or take? Not sure what the concert capacity is, but I think they could sell it out easily.

ScottandPearlJam - What are you smoking? Almost all of your so called facts are wrong. Sorry buddy.

With no other East Coast dates, PJ would easily sell out Fenway.

    REALLY? I mean, REAAAAALLLLY?

Pearl Jam plays their own type of baseball. The first major difference is it's five against one...

Eddie hits one deep just off the short porch in right, mccready is thumbing his way to second, the crowd is doing a big wave as stone gossard is running at the speed around third to score the winning run. PJ wins the pennant, PJ wins the pennant.

Cheesy I know, but I am bored at work.

I think they could definitely sell it out, but I think the big thing would be ticket prices. There are plenty who love Pearl Jam, but there are more that just like them or don't know how great their live shows can be.

For the Garden show in 2010 they had a lot of trouble selling the balcony seats because they were overly expensive. In fact, they were the same price as LOGE or Floor seats....which was around $90. The average concert goer doesn't want to pay those prices for balcony.

I guess the novelty of playing at Fenway might influence people to pay some extra $$$ though.

Maybe its' the Big 4 - Metallica, Slayer, Megadeath and Anthrax. They are playing Yankee Stadium on Sept 14 in what is supposed to be the only show before they go to Europe.

or, or, maybe U2. Their tour is set to finally wrap up at the end of July. But, they did not play Boston this leg, which is very unusual. They did 2 nights at Gillette Stadium in 2009.

Just a feeling I have knowing the neighborhood a little, nothing at all to back this up, but if it is the Big 4 I don't think Fenway will be able to get the permits. Not sure a heavy metal show will fly with the neighbors.
