Dear Ten Club,

I think it will be very important to most fan club members to have available some free wifi hotpsots and some charging stations. From what I hear about cell strength at Alpine Valley, these will be really important to have.

I've never seen a charging station at a venue before, do things like this actually exist?

It'd be a nice perk in the 10c member area.

I don't know really? I mean I have seen them at airports. Even if inside and outside the Expo center they put out 20 or 30 surge protectors into random outlets that may be there. You know, turning each outlet into maybe 10 or so plugs. We would just need to bring our chargers.

Some large festivals have charging stations, but they are usually sponsored by wireless providers.....the would cause everyone to cry "sell-out"...and ironically, the same people would use the charging stations so that they'd have the juice to text "sell-out" as well!

It's nice to have use of your phone for the reason they were invented. Convenience and safety. All I know is if I lose my fiance or my other buddies I would like the ability to make a quick call and meet up than search for three hours looking for someone.

And as far as referring to Alpine Valley not being like an urban venue...anywhere that charges 50 dollars a day for access to extra sh1tters and offers $2000 weekend hotel packages, it's far from a "Kum Ba Yah" festival. Just give us some hotspots and charging stations please!!

As I thought for this thread:

When I did Coachella back in 07 they had charging stations.... however the charging stations were literally stationary bikes hooked up to a small scale generator, and in order to charge your phone you had to get on the bikes and power the generator... it was pretty neat and could realistically be done anywhere...

    Just sayin... ;)
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

With the complexity of smartphones now in relation to phones in 2007 I really wouldn't want to trust charging it to my ability to peddle at a consistent speed. :D

but as one poster said "reception at Alpine sucks" so your phone would be useless...I'm getting:

When the reception is poor all the more reason for charging stations. Batteries drain quicker in low coverage areas. I have spoken to people who have been to the venue and I'm told it's not so much that coverage sucks, its just a lack of towers. Sometimes you may not be able to make a call but call quality is fine if the tower picks you up. Texting and email will be the most reliable form of communication using the phone.

Yea, that was why they ran the generator off of the bikes and through a system of conditioners and rectifiers before plugging it into your phone...

but what do I know, I'm not a electrical engineer....
