I dont have children but seeing as its an outdoor festival, I could appreciate you wanting to bring them. I think its always cool when you see little kids rocking out a PJ concert

Ah very nice, mine was born 5-22-09!!! Nice day for little Jamheads to be born huh?

On another note, I seemed to have started quite a conversation here...let me clear up something for those who think my parenting is lacking because I pondered bringing my son with me. I love my family and I love Pearl Jam and mixing the 2 seemed like a good idea given the right circumstance. We took him with us late last summer to a Rib/music festival w/ Rock bands and the place was crawling with children around the back (not up front of course) and I guess I was just hoping for an environment like that for us. I got to enjoy the music and my family at the same time. We laid out a blanket and played while listening to the great live music in a "family" atmosphere.

However, I can fully understand how those without kids wouldn't want them hanging around at a concert lawn or other...

Hope that clears up my thinking... ;)

Are you familiar with Alpine? The place is gigantic and the hill is REALLY steep from what I remember (but it's been since '03). Just a thought; it's not a nice flat surface at all. Having said that, it's your decision, even though I admit to have gotten a huge laugh out of the "Good lord" post!

Is Rib fest like a local town thing with like carnival rides and carney games? Because PJ20 will not have that. They will have people doing evrything but that. Just say'in.

    I have a 3 year old...will be 4 before PJ20. No way would I bring her.

Not to say I haven't thought about it. It sounds like a great day. Sun, picnic, music...but that is all bs fairy tale land. It wouldn't be like that at all. She would be tired early and cranky or sleeping during PJ anyhow. I think a nice local family orientated music festival in town where you can go for an hour or so could be enjoyable for all. But this? A 12 hour+ concert with nothing for kids? No thanks. Not fair to her, and not fair to me.

I've seen enough Sesame Street Lives etc. to earn a trip to PJ without her anyhow. ;)

Yeah, the lawn at AV doesn't seem like it will be a "family atmosphere"

If it's anything like the lawn at the Molson Ampitheater in Toronto, there will be a lot of drunks puking and the rest smoking dope. :P

My 11 year old begged me for a membership, so I bought him one for early birthday gift. He got tix for himself and his 9 year old brother, so my wife and I are bringing the boys. They took in their first concert last summer in Columbus and had a blast!

Damn ....either you pay a great allowance or you have a solid earner for a son!

The son w/the membership helped pay for his ticket...the younger son saved his Christmas & birthday money and bought a .410. He was saving for PJ20, but as they say, "The waiting drove (him) mad... ."

Under 7 you Are crazy. 7 to 11 you need to know your kid. Do what you want. Won't effect me. But remember in your zeal to be "cool" you're actually being selfish doing what you want and not what is best for your child. A 3 year old will have a great story when they're in college, but right now they'd enjoy grandmas house more (and so would you). Be smart. I have 4 boys ages 3 to 11, so I am not some kid giving you advice.

Though you will save money since you'll be back in your hotel by 9( if not earlier) :D

Each to his or her own...I am leaving my two boys (7 and 9) with grandma. Young ears can be hurt if they are too close to the speakers and I expect the evening will be more of a drink/pot fest than a family picnic. My kids love Pearl Jam, but they won't enjoy PJ20. Besides, after the year I've had, I need some time for me. Hopefully we can all go together for PJ30 :D
