Milwaukee to Alpine Valley

Hi Everyone,

I've never attended a concert or festival at Alpine Valley. We are thinking of making Milwaukee our base of operations for the weekend. Based on anyone's previous experience at Alpine Valley is this a nightmare of an idea with traffic?

    I've never been there but, I've been on Google Maps so much in the past week it feels like I have...To me it looks like if you stay close to Interstate 43 it shouldn't be too bad. Looks to be about 40 minutes or so.
    I ain't got no fly'n shoes..

    It can be a nightmare getting out of the parking lot, like all other shows, but once you get out they have everything pretty much dummy proof. Be ware of state police in the small towns out to the interstate. They need money and like to pull you over.(The stop sign before getting out of the lot, is a favorite spot for police to find open intoxicants and pungent smells.) If your breaking the law!
    I would suggest the shuttle into the concert so you don't have to deal with getting out of the lot later. Lots of walking to the ampitheather, from the lower parking lots, but also lots of fun. Anyway about an hour or 45 mins from the Alpine to Milwaukee.

    Have rooms booked in Lake Geneva and Milwaukee. Can't decide.

    I have 6 guys in our group. Could be looking to share a private shuttle from Milwaukee, and also looking for Friday night activity

    Traffic to the show shouldn't be bad... its mostly freeway (I-43). If it were me, I would try to get a hotel in Brookfield or New Berlin to avoid any downtown traffic. Then just take moorland south to hit 43. As said before.. getting out of the show is the hardest part.

    Thanks for everyone's input. Still not sure if we want to take the shuttle or not. I know my wife will be sober for the drive home so not worried about that.

    My husband and I are planning to drive from Milwaukee to Alpine each day as well. We'd be up for splitting a car or shuttle. Pm if interested.
