i know nothing about alpine valley and never really travel for events but i am hoping to attend this

my questions

are what airport do you fly into?

i heard theres a resort that is right there is this where people will be staying otherwise can you make other hotel recommendations?

when it comes to 10c do they sell full travel packages that are tickets and hotel or is it just tickets and then maybe a 10c discount on hotel?

my biggest concern is me and my gf both dont drive so getting around would be the issue so i need a place to stay thats close..and ill take a cab from the airport

any other info you think i will need please let me know..as i said i have never traveled for a show but im hoping this will be the first

Milwuakee is the closest airport. Second would be flying into Chicago, which is at least 2 hours away, without traffic. There is a resort, but not sure if its still available. Some people in another thread were saying that the closest hotels were currently about 10 miles away from the venue.

If you decide to cab it from Milwuakee airport to alpine resort (assuming there are rooms), it's almost a 40 mile drive. Obviously, this would not be a viable option if you fly into Chicago.

    Good luck!

chicago or milwaukee are you airports.

highly doubt you want to take a cab from chicago. that'd run you a couple of hundred bucks.

rent a car or snag a ride with someone else going. hmm, considering you don't drive....snag the ride. :P

a few hotels right there, but they will be money. lots of hotels a short drive away....rent a car or snag more rides.

    - Looks like there is an East Troy Municipal Airport, but likely just into Milwaukee. Chicago looks reasonable if you're willing to rent a car and drive the rest of the way.

    - People have been speculating on Alpine Valley Labor Day weekend for a while. If that turns out to be true, accommodations seem to be tight right now. You may not have a choice but to be a ways from the venue. Different location and/or different weekend? Hit the options hard as soon as it's announced.

    - There have been travel packages recently, but what they plan to do here is anyone's guess. If you're hellbent on going, I wouldn't count on it, but it's certainly not out of the question.

There is a Sleep Inn in Mukwonago, WI right off the interstate that other people on here have reserved rooms at. Your best bet is to try to catch a ride with someone. I'm not sure that there is a local taxi service in or around that area, most likely they would be based out of Waukesha and it could end up costing a lot more to have one come out there. Sounds like most anything close to Alpine is already booked, but if I were you I would call, you might find something close. Of course, this is all assuming that it is at Alpine and would be best to wait for something official unless you can book without any cancellation fees.

washedinblack I'll pick you up at the airport (in rental or my own car...depending on how the weekend shakes down). We can fill up the car with whoever else we know from here arriving at similar times.

My first lodging choice would definitely be camping - are they having that this year? But given that even at 6 people per site, the 75 campsites (that I heard were proposed) will only hold 1.2% of the venue capacity...I guess I should be bummed that the resort appears to be sold out?

A true festival with legit camping for everyone would be so much nicer.

    i love youuuuuuuuuu :D
now all that's needed is a hotel. reaaaaaaally hope they have an affordable block of rooms at a hotel somewhere not 40 miles away...
and what does "camping" mean? is it a tent? a sleeping bag? a spot on the ground where we bring our own pillow?
