STP, AIC, SG..

Does anyone else agree that the fact that all these bands (especially STP) are all reuniting and touring because the success PJ has had over the last 20 years has opened the door for them?
I find these once-dead grunge era bands have all risen and are all riding the coattails of the living legends that have dedicated themselves to music and the fans (and the environment!).
Without PJ, do you think the current demand for their music would exist at the current level?
Counter argument is that there would be MORE of a demand, but because I'm completely biased, I think that without PJ, many fans may have lost faith and interest, and the grunge era would have been just a historical era no different from any other.

Send my credentials to the house of detention
Im prob still living in the 90s cause I still think all 3 of these bands are still huge and they're STILL my go to music behind PJ of course.
And I don't think the fact that they can come back with success has anything to do with PJ.

i feel it's more so realizing that the petty bullshit is nothing major to not play together. in AIC case it was more so carrying on as a band without their friend and how to do it in a respectful manner without forgetting the legacy of layne.

I saw AIC with their new singer at one of the Soundwave festivals and I think one of the reasons they are still making music and touring is the fact they chose a great new singer. Is he Layne, nooooooooo but he fits into their classic songs well and doesn't try to be Layne.
As for SG, they have always been an amazing band, I don't think they would have ever NEEDED PJ to survive. They have survived on their own merits.

Yes, that's true, BUT that's my point. Everyone always thinks that because of that stp is just going downhill again, etc. I understand that if you don't follow them very closely that you would think that, and i'm not saying that I know everything about them, i'm just saing that for now he really is doing well and that I wouldn't be surprised if they stay around a few more years. Since that incident he has improved a lot which you can tell physically. He's gained some weight, and he's very energetic on stage, more like how he used to be. I know it's only been a year since then, but I try to think of them now as the new STP, and so far whenever people think the moght start going downhill again, they get better. But that was not the case last year. To be honest, I don't think Scott was extremly healthy last year, because I honestly didn't see much improvement in his performance, his physical ability, etc. But this year I have seen HUGE improvements. If you read reviews both fans and professional writer's agree that they are putting on great shows and Scott is doing very well. And if STP come to your town, you should go, you won't regret it. I'm not saying your wrong or anything because your true, i'm saying that just becdause that happened, dosen't mean they can't improve.
Trust me, if you see them live you would change your mind. They love their music too and like I said, last year was not a good representation of STP, they are really good to their fans and you can tell they enjoy being onstage playing their music in front of their fans. When I saw them last weekend in Birmingham, Alabama (which was hit with HORRIBLE storms) they were the only band at the festival to acknowledge it and Scott even said a prayer for the families who were affected. So they are doing it for the money, they are GREAT actors.

Totes! STP were around long before PJ, and only had a 4 or 5 year hiatus. A lot of the reason why SG got back together was people like us hassling them and urging them to do so, so if they feel the love, why wouldn't they.

As far as STP goes, I am kinda disappointed with them as of late. I am a huge fan of their albums. Purple was the first CD I ever owned, I've listened to it and core a bzillion times. I have even seen them live a couple of times, both amazing shows, especially the one with the rotating stage where the back looked like the mtv unplugged set and they did an acoustic set in the midde of the elctric one, or when scott came down on the floor and asked the girl right in front of me what song she wanted him to sing, and she picked plush! I swear I could have killed her, how do you not pick a deep cut in that situation. Ahh I digress . . .
But this particular incident has tainted my opinion of them. Kinda sucks.

So don't read or reply to the post you might say - I have to - it's just too weird of a topic to not address.
AS time goes on things become sheek again, and now that is is almost 20 years later, it is now classic stuff, from an era that will always appeal to some extent.
IMO I don't think revivals of the era would be any different with or without Pearl Jam being around still, if anything had they broken up they would be in the group too.
EDIT: far as STP is concerned.....Weiland has screwed the pooch a few times...People are lookin for it so its kinduva big deal every time he flakes out for a show. I think most of their shows are pretty good and when they're on they're as good as anybody.
