Phillies Season-Ticket Holder Stuck With Goddamn Joe Blanton Game Again
    May 4, 2011

PHILADELPHIA—Philadelphia Phillies fan Rick Kirkland was disappointed to learn Friday that his season-ticket package had once again dealt him a game started by the fifth man in the team’s rotation, Joe Blanton. “Four of five starters are All-Stars, and we get the shitty one again?” said Kirkland, who has had to endure the mediocre Blanton the past eight times he has taken his family to the ballpark. “Do you have any idea what it costs to go to these games? If I wanted my kid to see a guy who will be totally forgotten in a few years struggle to locate an 89-mile-per-hour fastball, I could take him to a college game, for fuck’s sake.” Kirkland did express some hope a rainout might alter the rotation schedule, but when asked about the scenario, Phillies manager Charlie Manuel confirmed he would still start Blanton just to spite the ticket holder.

I can't tell if this is real or fake. Definitely believable

From Jon Heyman. I guess he doesn't know that howard's contract doesn't even start until 2012 (god that is fucking terrible). at least he backs up his point with the all important RBI total :? . what a dipshit.

It's early in Ryan Howard's $125 million contract. But Howard, who has a league-leading 29 RBIs, is worth every penny so far.

I'm a Howard supporter and even I wouldn't go that far. Heyman's an idiot.

Yes! Yes! I mean, I hope so! I'm a Cleveland sports fan - it's our turn to have a winning team at something for Christ's sake...

What I'm liking about the Tribe this year is there are no real big standouts - the entire team is playing together above average (not awesome, but above average). If they can keep consistent we'll be in good shape.

I heard a stat the other day that if Cleveland keeps playing .500 ball from here on out, the Tigers and Royals would have to win 20+ games over .500 to take the division. Not sure how they came up with that if they're only 4.5 games back though.

the new math? no, right now, the royals would only have to go 66-59 to tie the tribe. don't worry tho....that ain't gonna happen. go tribe!!

Dude got to A ball and started tearing it up right away. Pretty impressive. He is a huge tool and but I do look forward to watching him hit.

You see the video of him swinging and ripping the ball with a heavy bat? Pretty crazy.

I think I used a 33"/31oz bat in high school. Harper would clean his teeth with that

forget who I was reading, but someone has an interesting theory that the nats are taking their time promoting him so that they get the gates at these minor league parks. makes sense. they're still a ways away from competing for anything
