Nothingman and that 'La La La La La' part

This may be an old question, but here goes anyway...

After rediscovering my Vitalogy record at the weekend (my parents house really is a gold mine sometimes) I was reminded of something that has bugged me for years now. I'm sure you've all heard the 'La La La La La' in the background at the end of Nothingman, right? Is there any story as to who this is, why it was included, or is it just a fun inclusion that's part of the song?

You know what I mean right? (4:20) I'm not hearing things am I? Figured if anybody knew it would be you lot! :ugeek:

If I've heard it, it's subconciously because sitting here right now I have no idea what you're talking about. :D

I thought back in the 90's they had a contest and who ever got the 'La La La La La' Vitalogy got a tour of the PJ headquarters.

Yup, just checked and the offer is still good.

You're havin a wind up son - just listened and don't hear any 'La La' - plenty of 'Oh, oh oh oh ooooh' and a bit of organ/keyboard at 04:20, but certainly no 'La's' - what edition do you have?! :)

I can hear it on all editions...

No wind up, honest - listen really close to the background just after the last set of oh oh oh ohs. Once you hear it you will always hear it. Trust me...I'm not crazy!!!!!

I've never heard it, and I picked out a lot of subtle things in the albums back in the day (guitar part splice in RVM, missed snare drum on Corduroy) so I'll have to check this out.

It sounds like a guy doing an impression of a high picthed lady singing La La La La La...its almost mocking and childlike. Amazed nobody has picked up on this...

I told my wife that I'll have to play it to her tonight to prove to her (and myself) that I'm not mad - she just whispered La La La La in my ear on the train. Not funny!

Yeah, I just listened to both the original and remastered with no bass and tons of treble, and nothing. There's a lower pitched something right after the last "oh," but I definitely don't hear any "lalala" happening.
