Reading this article about Cake...

They start talking about doing things DIY and,

"Do you feel like you have peers from the early ’90s who are also holding on to the DIY aesthetic?

I don’t know! There must be some. Can you think of any people still doing the DIY thing?

I’m not really sure either.

Maybe Pearl Jam? Are they still doing the DIY thing? Are Fugazi still playing? "

So yea maybe every now and then we might bitch about the Ten Club. BUT THEY ARE DOING IT BY THEM SELVES. Recognize.

I have seen Cake 4 times. They are my wife's favorite band. She drags me to Cake, I drag her to Pearl Jam.

They are a great band and definitely put on a great live show. There are a ton of comparisons between them and PJ as far as sustainability efforts and DIY approach to making a releasing music.

As long as you recognize the fact that even when you DIY, there's always room for improvement.

And I went to the Cake show in Williamsburg on Tuesday... pretty good! Enjoy.

I'm catching them here in the DCO in June. They're a "fun" band and a pretty good live show. Give us a review/preview tomorrow!

  • True that. There is always room for improvement.

Hey was there an opening band for the Williamsburg show? What time did they go on? Any info can help, would like to pregame and dont want to miss a note. Thanks. I'll let you know how the show was. I have never seen them before. Cant possibly compare to PJ but seriously who can?

Williamsburg show was fun, opened with Sand songs and waltz and played a good mix of there catalog and the new album. There was no opening band, they came on at 9 did an intermission and an encore and ended after 11. Might not be the cast at terminal 5. Also they will probably give a way a tree ....

Just to add to the Fresh Prince's post... it ended very shortly after 11. Setlist if you're curious...

  • Cool. You guys are awesome. Setlist.fm is great; you can listen to any show, (not that actual show but they'll play the studio songs or other live versions) in the order of whatever set list you're looking at. And all the statistics are awesome too, like average set list, etc.

Its good to see the statistics of other bands because it really makes you appreciate how fucking kick ass PJ is. They have the BEST Statistics - variety (how much of their catalog is used in a tour), show length, covers...you name it, they kill it.

    Thanks again.
