Vinyl Setup Help

I recently just bought this 2 channel receiver http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G ... 100-02.jpg to go with my record player. I was curious to what kind or type of speakers I should look for to go with this setup. I live in the far east of Canada and I'm kind of limited to my options of stores, they all mostly carry computer speakers. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you checked amazon?...It depends on the kind of space you have for them...It might be a good idea to stick with Sony ....Either floor standing or bookshelf....does your turntable have a built in pre-amp,if not, does the receiver have phono connections on the back?I ain't got no fly'n shoes..0

Definitely try Amazon. Sony has some nice reasonably priced. Or Polk if you want to spend some more.

Sony always sounds muddy to me.
I would go with Polk. They're usually the 'best for less' option.0 -

No...you need a left and a right...that speaker is used in surround sound setupsI ain't got no fly'n shoes..0 -

The Polk ones you have there are also for surround systems..You dont want that...The Bose are nice,thats more along the lines of what you need...go back to amazon and search "bookshelf speakers"I ain't got no fly'n shoes..0 -

Great thanks for all your help, I'll be ordering the speakers today, hopefully this time next week I'll be listening to my vinyl finally.

Ok this is what sucks about where I live, amazon.com won't ship to me, and amazon.ca doesn't have many options. I did find the Bose speakers on a Best Buy canadian website for 169.99 http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/bos ... d4390cen02.
So is it save to say these are good speakers and worth the cash?0 -

So I finally got my receiver http://www.amazon.com/Sony-STR-DH100-2- ... B001TP3CH8 and my Polk speakers http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-TSi100 ... 227&sr=1-6.
Set it up today with my record player http://www.amazon.com/Technosonic-Recor ... B000QFL3EG but something doesn't seem right the sound so-so and it sounds like its playing quickly. Any ideas on what may be wrong?0 -
If the volume is low its because the receiver you have doesn't have phone inputs..If you take the slipmat off there should be holes in the platter..slowly spin the platter while looking in the those holes,you should see a speed adjustment...maybe a screw or an actual knob?..There may even be a switch to turn on the turntbles built in pre-amp (unless it is on the back,couldn't tell from the picture) If your pre-amp is turned on and you're still getting low volume you'll need to spend about $50 on an external pre-amp...Let me know what you find under the slipmat.I ain't got no fly'n shoes..0

I just ordered a pre-amp you had told about one while back its this one: http://www.phonopreamps.com/tc750pp.html. So I am hoping this will do the trick.
The records play at a fine speed, when its not hooked up to anything, just the player itself, so hopefully this will do it. Thanks again.0 -
Thats the same one that I have, very simple to hook up..Just remember that if your turntable has an on/off switch for the built in amp, that you need to turn it off when you hook up the external amp...Keep me updated on how it all goes.I ain't got no fly'n shoes..0
