PJ20 Ticket Discussion...

Can someone please exlpain to me their ideas on ticketing for PJ20 if it happens to be at Alpine Valley? Once tickets/ weekend passes are purchased will you:

-Be randomly assigned different seats for each show?
-Be assigned the same seats for each show?
-Will lawn prices and seated prices be the same?
-If it is an all day thing, will people be allowed to exit and enter the music venue from the camping area multiple times?

It seems almost logistically impossible to solve these problems without the "festival" being in a general admission setting.

Note- I'm not trying to be negative in this thread.

For real! People are speculating and driving themselves insane, and for what? To still get nowhere with a dead-end discussion, that's what.

Honestly buddy, no one can answer any of these questions right now. We can certainly state our opinions on what will happen though. However, according to APV it can't be longer than 8 hours if there is to be a 2nd day. Could PJ maybe get them to lift that rule? That would be awesome, but I guess we have to wait and see.

    My guesses:

1 & 2) 3 day passes with the same seats.
    3) I would think the lawn tickets would be cheaper.
    4) I've never been to APV so I don't know their leaving and re-entering policy. There aren't many camping spots at APV, a few hundred tops I think and the rules for that area are pretty strict.

It's probably the biggest thing going on in the little world of Pearl Jam right now, so I would expect some speculation .. and this is a discussion board/ forum. Seems the right place for a discussion of ideas and opinions, even if some see them as dead-end.

OK, fine, I told myself I wouldn't do this, but one of the members of the band (I won't say who), told me that Jim Morrison came to him in a dream and said, "If you book them, they will come." I think that's pretty much all we need to know.
  • Seriously - there is no way this is a GA show. They aren't going to put anyone in physical danger which is why there are no longer US GA shows. Pearl jam pits are brutal, brutal places. The Jones Beach pit made Pantera @ Nassau look like a joke. I hesitate to use the term pit as well because it just turns into a mad push for the stage with crowd surfers flying all over.

I was at both Borgata Shows in 2005 (granted they were small shows) and Bonnaroo 2008 ( ~ 80K) and no one got hurt. I think people are generally respectful and responsible enough to handle a GA Pearl Jam show.

Bonnaroo does a nice job with the "pit", between cleaning it out between shows and limiting access to shows.

The Bonnaroo "pit" area was very subdued.. even during the Metallica Show in '08. I think there was prob. more "moshing" outside of the pit area. In any case, there was not really nonsense of the sort during the PJ show. I can't really speak for the crowd at Lolla 2007, Outside Lands 2009, or other festivals they have played but I think they have been relatively incident free..

If PJ plays GA shows, I just don't attend those shows. Pretty simple. The good news is, they hardly exist in the US
