I've been getting my friend into pearl jam as of late. he's been going through albums one by one. So far he's gone through Ten which he found so so. then backspace which he intially loved the fixer and then the other songs gre on him. Then No code, then VS. and Vitalogy. He pretty much enjoys all that he hears, anyways he asked me what was the most disliked album. i said Riot Act. Personally i like the album but it's not my favorite either. it got me wondering is there anyone who actually considers this album to be their fave. I'm very curious to find out

yep its my favourite
because its deep with revolations
a true mature rock album0 -
Yeah, a bunch actually. There was a topic around here recently about why Riot Act is considered the weakest album, and to my surprise there were several people who called it their favorite album. Personally it is my least favorite, but even my least favorite Pearl Jam album is an album I enjoy. If I'm in the right mood I can really get into it, but on most days there are maybe 2-3 songs I would choose to listen to. I prefer the outtakes from the Riot Act sessions to 75% of the songs that made it on the album."See a broad to get dat booty yak 'em, leg 'er down, a smack 'em yak 'em!"0

Self Titled is my Favorite. But Riot Act is my 2nd fav. So for awhile it was my Fav
It is a great album. I dont understand why people dislike it so much.Personaly I think it would be the best sounding album if they tried to play it live in order. I know it will never happen (unless I win the lotto then they would do it in my back yard
)
Save you kicks ass. LBC is great,Cropduster amazing, Damn to many great songs on their to go threw but you get my point. I guess people have to hate some thing

Its my favourite album along with Vs. I just think its a fantastic rock album. Some of the stuff on there I feel is Pearl Jam at their most creative. Save You & Green Disease are great rock songs, lyrically Bu$hleaguer contains some great lines. Half Full is immense and All Or None is wonderful.
I think its an album where the band challenged themselves and moved out of their comfort zone if you like. For me it stands up against all their other work. I love it. I never tire of listening to it.
I find it very interesting that alot of people don't like this album yet love Backspacer which I feel is a lazy album. Creatively there's nothing there for me and PJ dropped the ball with that album.2000: Manchester

ok, I love riot act it is mature and individual. In saying that I love ten, because it is ground breaking and amazing for a 1st album. I love them all, because I see them as their own entity's. I don't really have a favorite, but I do have a least favorite. Yes backspacer...I cant get my head around it. I love the end and amongst the waves, got some has that old fiery passion, and unthought known is factual, we can all see the path cut by the moon to walk on...but I just dont listen to this c.d, and I really want to...the art is fantastic on the liner notes, and I even like the glow in the dark bits...0

yes! i love riot act, its my favourite along side ten, i cant really choose a favourite between them two they are such different albums and i love them both for different reasons and in different ways. ive never understood how much hate this album gets, in all honesty though i wasnt that keen on it at first, it took a long time to grow on me but i feel the growers tend to stand the test of time for you personally and like i said i love it now
IF YOU HATE SOMETHING,.. DONT YOU DO IT TOO0 -
like someone else said, i love each pj album - for different reasons - but i love each one.
my "favourite" album changes by week almost, depends how I'm feeling. right now it's No Code.
Riot Act is probably my "least listened to" pj album - but I do appreciate it and especially when I'm in the mood, I find that it's a great album. However, it took me a while to "get" it and fully appreciate it - for a couple of reasons, some unknown. It definitely took a while to love it though
I don't think PJ have a "weakest album"-people appreciate and understand different albums depending on their situation and where they are in life and who they are etc.etc.
I don't get the hate for Backspacer- it was the second PJ album I properly listened to (after being blown away by Ten for a loooooong time) and I find it to be great. It's punchier, more upbeat - which I don't think is a bad thing. Some of the songs are just amazing - Amongst The Waves is my current favourite

I go through phases. But absolutely loving riot act right now. Ghost, All or None, I Am Mine and Thumbing My Way are my favorites off the album.
In my opinion, the lyrics are amazing on this cd.0 -
I like the responses
. It took awhile for this album to grow cuz its very different and the way people talked about made me think it was gonna be terrible but once i got familiar with it i recognized it has some great tracks and there really isnt a song on the album i dislike speaking as a child who shouldve have been a teen in the 90's0 -
I like it. Not in my top 3 but there really isn't a weak album in my opinion.
Everyones opinions differ on favorite album. There will never be a consensus favorite.Post edited by RedMosquito22 onMember 164xxx

It's my second favorite, right after Vitalogy and before Binaural. It is also the album that I listen to the most.0

I get the album. I get it and have listened to it over 100 times; but, it still falls short for me. I skip some songs. That shouldn't happen with a PJ album. This might be because it has too many tracks. Get rid of Ghost, Get Right, Help, Help, and You Are, and I think I look at it differently. I actually want to burn a new version of it with those songs deleted. I think they simply take away from the power of the album, as embodied in most of the other songs. With those tracks deleted we have a more focused album: the political and the existential. The album screams "what the fuck is going on?" and "where is my place in all of this?" especially if you lose the aforementioned tracks.
Love Can't Keep as an opener, Save You is amazing. The 1-2 remind me of Sometimes and Hail, Hail. Love the lyrics of Cropduster and Green Disease-perfect timing (though the music leaves a little to be desired). 1/2 Full and All or None close out beautifully.
That's it.
And, I agree with others: the album artwork is phenomenal. But, the music is more important.0 -

I completely agree with this. Just like Vitalogy. If you take out some of the filler you have a different recording. You can even rearange the song order to suit.0 -
