Usually I put some kraft down, then the poster, then more kraft, then a bunch of heavy books... but I have like 80+ I want to flatten.. Any tips to speed this up?

go to a hobby lobby or framing store... call around a few places, matte boards should run about $6 a large sheet, make sure they are acid free. Stack your prints in between matte boards, flatten as many as you can, put heavy objects on top to keep it flat while you tape the hell out of the edges... THEN, put some kraft paper on top of that, because tape can be sketchy, stack more prints, stack another matte board, tape, repeat... can be put under bed, between mattress, on side, etc.
shoot me a PM if you have questions, and good luck0 -
place them in your driveway and park your car ontop of them ..... thats how i do it ..
honestly i got about 100 posters between two 2'x3' foam core boards . acid free paper between each one.... them i placed some books or anything heavy i got laying around my house (grandma,girlfriend,dogs..etc )have you seen the colors of my fathers eyes0 -
I've been transitioning from tubes to a folio and been putting one at a time between two sheets of plexiglass (and kraft paper), then putting them under my mattress on the box spring. It KINDA works. The ends are still a little rolled up, like they wouldn't stay flat without putting those photo corner things on to hold them down before I slide them in the folio.
How long do you guys usually keep the heavy books etc on top of them before they are TOTALLY flat? I've been doing a week per poster under the mattress, but maybe it's just too "soft" to flatten them.ABQ 93, Las Cruces 95, ABQ 98, Bridge School 10/30/99, Lubbock 00, ABQ 00, Denver 03, State College 03, San Diego 03, Vegas 03, PHX 03, D.C. 03, Camden 7/5/03, NYC 7/8/03 + 7/9/03, Vegas 06, San Francisco 7/15/06 + 7/16/06 + 7/18/06, Kansas City 10, [EV:ABQ 11/6/12], Chicago 13, PHX 13, Denver 14--PJ24!, Telluride 16, Chicago 8/20/16, Chicago 8/18/18, Phoenix 22, Denver 22, Vegas 5/16/24

I use foamcore boards. Just put clamps on the sides of the boards and I also put some extra weight on in the middle.0

Ive been meaning to do this too...where do you get your acid free kraft paper. Online, I could only find big rolls for like $60, which is more than I need.Post edited by nicky-p38 on0 -
Fastest cheapest way is just whay your doing. I do it the same way. But I have a piece of cardboard on the top and I use heavy weight distributed evenly. Remember the longer the poster is rolled the longer to flatten. Then just store them the same way in a cardboard folder. I got 3 huge ones for free from my local art dealer. I hope this helps. Some words when spoken...Can't be taken back...0

Acid free box.
Coraplast wrapped in kraft paper, poster, paper, poster, paper, poster, paper...coraplast wrapped in acid free kraft paper. Heavy Book in the center. Flattens in a few days.I Know All The Rules But The Rules Do Not Know Me.0 -
Prob not the best way, but I have my portfolio, I flatten it out (somewhat, not fully cause it takes too long). Then I make sure it fits in the sleeve perfectly (no dog ears, cause it still has a tendency to roll up a bit) But from the weight of all the other posters, they flatten out perfectly.Sydney 11/02/2003
