It's time to make peace with the cost of concert tickets. They are not over priced.

So I finally made peace with the cost of concert tickets today. I figure I pay $60/mo on cable and it costs $80 to fill my gas tank. So a concert ticket for $100 is not bad. Sure I wish it was lower, but I wish gas was cheaper too. You can't get a 100 or 200 level Bulls ticket for less than $100 and they do 41 "shows" a year + playoffs. I pay $25 co-pay for 4 mins with the doctor. My buddy pays $300/hr for his divorce lawyer. Can't get a decent hotel room for less than $100/ night. I'm not rich, but I am thrifty.
I'll still bitch about ticket availability and location of shows and getting shut out and my high 10C number, but not ticket prices.
$100 for EV or $70 for A perfect Circle or $45 for a Cubs ticket doesn't seem that high. I guess inflation has really got in my head.
At the show/game when a beer costs $8 and nachos $7 now that is outrageous.
Have a great week.
There's no need to say goodbye

  • isn't inflation just part of the problem? isn't the price of gas and other things that went skyrocketing also to blame so they have to counteract that and junk? just guessing, i know nothing really, it just kinda makes sense in my head, though it's not like i do research on this kinda stuff so maybe i'm just stupid =D

I think part of the problem with this country is the haves can't ever seem to have enough and getting more generally comes at the expense of the have nots. Ed, Pearl Jam, Sunoco, BP, Comcast Cable....all haves who simply increase their prices to adjust for inflation so we the consumer are forced to pay more or we don't drive/get cable/go to concerts.

EVEN BETTER! I'd take a HS gymnasium over the MGM Grand any day!

I agree.. the problem is its getting harder and harder to get tickets which are not on the secondary market....
