Why all the hate for racists?! I'm a racist...

Just last week, I took 2nd place in a lemon meringue pie-eating race.
This week, I'm going to be in a three-legged, potato sack race - all proceeds benefit the American Society Seeking Honesty Of Legislative Electees (A.S.S.H.O.L.E. for short)

GO FOR GOLD! GO FOR GOLD!

Someone who is not against interracial marriage for others but would not consider it for themselves, does that mean they are prejudice in some sort? Or is it just a clean fair view? Can a clean fair view, or stance, can it still be prejudice?

I guess it would depend on what the reasoning behind it is,

I have lived in the Wisconsin for 35 years and here in Georgia for 20.

Racist people are everywhere ... each region of the country
and actually I feel WI was more segregated than here in GA.

A thought I hope for is with all the mixing of races how can prejudice even survive ....
everyone will be a little more like each other ... a lovely mixture.

I think a lot of racial minorities find the "I don't see color" thinking offensive because it denies a significant part of their experience.

Lets just get some words straight.

Stereotyping - believing groups of people to all contain a simular trait.

Racism - The belief that your race is superior to all other races.

Stereotyping was bastardized in the politcally correct 90's. But it is a useful tool to serve as a starting point when meeting people who are completely foreign to you as long is it's a rational stereotype. Anthropologists have been doing this for years, except they call it "culture".

Smoke does come from fire (most of the time anyway, I don't want to stereotype).

Racism has little to do with stereotyping and everything to do with exclusiveness. If you don't have the right color of skin you can't be in their club. However, racism leads to irrational stereotypes.

Bottom line: Use your brain before you speak or judge and all will be ok.

I find us all to be human beings with our own individual life experiences,
that is what is important to me, this is what I mean about color.
We are not a color first we are human beings first, individuals.

I don't believe in grudges and hate...the negative...nothing good comes from that

only forgiveness and love .... the positive .... and building a future together from that.

A future where people are equal and not judged but can love each other regardless of race or religion.

I agree appie. I know first hand the venom of racism. I am in an interracial marriage. We didn't pick each other based on our skin colour. We love each other's soul. No matter what race a person is, we all know what love is. We all long for love, so why not just give it first?

Good post and you proved im right, love is love and has nothing to do with skincolor or other things..

I agree with both of you. :) It's about how one person feels about another, and that is what matters. I am shocked and disheartened by some of the things that I hear people say about the subject around where I live, and it makes life so unnecessarily more difficult for interracial couples. It's really a sad state of affairs in some segments of the population.

I have been stung by both types of ignorance. They both suck ass! When a person decides to know me, they are always surprised to know I am a real person inside, not a shell that they can judge and categorize. I have trouble understanding why it was so hard to realize we are all the same. HUMAN.

You are absolutely spot on with the "Bottom Line", mookeywrench!
Lots of love, light and hugs to you all!
