How does the Re-Issue SOUND?
I've heard a ton of bitching about people not having their super delux. Collect your tears in a bucket for me would ya? I'm not currently able to afford that damn thing
What I want to know is... how does it sound? How did the re-master turn out. Do you hear a lot of difference? Is is better? How could it be right? What do you have for me, a guy who hasn't heard it? Is it good?
If there is a thread I'm missing... just post that link then. I did search but not relentlessly.

Is this a smart ass or serious comment. I don't even get it. Smells like a troll fart in here.
Well it's not a significant upgrade because frankly, both albums were pretty perfect to begin with. It's not like how the new Beatles remasters are vastly superior to the CDs released in 1988. But that said, I think the bass seems a little more "powerful" and drums have a really nice clean sound on these remasters.
But if I sat even the most devoted PJ-fanatic down and started playing Vitalogy songs and asked "Now was that the original or the remaster?", I doubt many would tell the difference.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. Pretty straight forward answer in my opinion. I agreeThe best revenge is to live on and prove yourself - EV0 -
The Vitalogy vinyl sounds vastly superior to the original press. Mostly because it's been pressed on 2 180 gram slabs instead of one hurried 120 grammer. I had a surprising amount of out of the box surface noise, though. I'm listening through a pair of Sennheiser HD595s though, so they pick up everything.7/27/1992: Lollapalooza, St. Louis; 7/11/1995: Soldier Field, Chicago

I can't tell much difference. Definitely not the difference in "Ten." (which was awesome) I agree with the earlier post that these albums were done pretty much right to begin with. Maybe a little heavier bass. I love it, especially the extra tracks."All I Ever Knew" available now in print and digital formats at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks.0

I fancy myself to have a pretty good ear and have played and recorded music for years. The mastering improvement is noticeable, but just barely. If money is tight, unless you want fresh LP's or the new 'rare' tracks I'd probably skip it.|9.5.93Gorge|2.6.95Moore|5.7.98AROSpace|7.21.98Seattle|7.22.98Seattle|10.21.00PHX|11.5.00Seattle

i definitely don't fancy myself as a sound expert ... but i've listened to the remastered Vs. twice now with my headphones on and i think there's a noticeable difference in how "open" the sound is. seems just a tad crisper, too. i'm happy to have gotten it. time to spin Vitalogy tonight ...Give way to nature ...0

I listened to both yesterday for the first time and the drums seemed crisper for sure and more out front. When Go kicks in at about 20 seconds the bass is pretty powerful. I think they sound a bit better for sure. Cleaner with more distinct sound seperation, but like the other person said the originals were pretty good in the first place.0

Listen to both versions of Go.. There's a pretty big difference there. I wasn't going to buy the remasters, but was sold instantly when I compared them.
To me, the remasters sound less muddy. It's easier to separate the sounds of the instruments. It has a crisper more open sound.0 -

I wasn't gonna get the re-issues purely cuz I thought the originals were produced well and always sounded good to me....but on that comment alone I'm seriously reconsidering my decision. 'Go' is one of my fave PJ tracks to rock out to and always gets my heart thumping. Dagnammit! :Pif I keep holding out,.... will the light shine through?0 -
Listen to them yourself and judge. There is a definite difference. To me I feel like I'm more in the room with the band. Everything sounds crystal clear. The improvements are more noticable with Vs., but Vitalogy sounds great too. I didn't think they could make them better, but they did.sickofit wrote:LikeAnOcean wrote:Listen to both versions of Go.. I would be glad to hear how the new vinyl records of vs and vitalogy sound. People who have been listening to the old pressing of these albums have always claimed that they are so much better than the cd's. This is properly also the case with the re-issues. The loudness levels of the vinyl records are of course much nicer for your ears and I suppose this is also the case with the new ones?
