Anyone else think the 10C needs a new ticketing system???

Isn't it a fact that Ten/VHC member DID get tickets through the website?
I know that not ALL the members who wanted tickets, got them... but didn't the available tickets go to Club members?
...
The servers are fine... right now, they are processing transactions to sell a pair of socks to someone in Des Moines, IA. That is what they are need to do 99.999% of the time. Maybe look for a solution that fits within the contraints of the the hardware.
...
I like the idea of submitting a request prior to the on-sale. Random processing of the request determines whether you get in or not. The Tickets part of the store would be restricted to only those who were selected via a URL in a confirmation E-Mail. You don't have to get in right at the on-sale time... shop at your leisure.
People will STILL complain saying shit like, "It SHOULD be by seniority!!!" or "It SHOULD NOT be by seniority!!!"... but, you know what? Fuck those people. They would probably complain if they did get tickets... but, are not in the front row.Allen Fieldhouse, home of the 2008 NCAA men's Basketball Champions! Go Jayhawks!

You have to separate "servers" from "code". At present, I am sure the 10c hardware is spanking new, and serving up pages at a wonderful rate. They are currently running Linux and have enjoyed a long stretch of up-time.Vedder_Girl77 wrote:Keep the same ticketing system just get new servers. The issue is in the number of simultaneous connections allowed by the server, within a secure connection (e.g., https). The solution is re-coding the procedures and incorporating cloud computing so the load is shared by multiple servers.37 PJ Shows, 3 EV Shows, 1134 Total Songs, 24 Different Openers, 9 Different Closers, 252 Unique Songs (never enough)0 -
Exactly. So IMO they should keep the current system, and implement the solution you suggest.phungi wrote:

All they need to do is keep it the same and for PJ shows implement the same one show only on the first day like they did with the EV shows. Most people would definitely get tix to the shows closest to home and can then try for the other shows on day 2.Member 164xxx

Nah. If they are gonna do that, they might as well just say you can only get tickets to one show period. Its the same thing because all the high demand shows will be sold out by day 2 anyway. Sure you can still get tix on the 2nd day for low demad shows, but that was never the issue anyway. And most people arent in it to only be able to get Fan Club tix to one show. The main reason im in the club is for tickets everything else is secondary. You like the one ticket thing, but most people DONT.RedMosquito22 wrote:All they need to do is keep it the same and for PJ shows implement the same one show only on the first day like they did with the EV shows. I'm not a computer savvy person....But I wonder why once the tickets are in your cart, can you be moved to a different area where all the people refreshing won't cause you to be "kicked out"? Is this possible?
I don't really think a new server would help that much because, as a million people have stated, there's just not enough tickets...8/28/98, 9/8/98, 8/3/00, 8/23/00, 8/24/00,8/27/00, 9/1/00, 10/20/01, 10/21/01, 4/26/03, 4/28/03, 5/3/03, 7/5/03, 7/9/03, 7/14/03, 5/31/06

they should really go back to old school mail order. It was fun filling out the index card(s) and getting money orders. If you didn't follow directions you didn't get tix. i wish phish would go back to this as well. the phish lottery is almost as frustrating, but at least it takes five minutes to fill out the lottery request instead of wasting an hour hoping you get tix."What can you expect when you're on top? You know? It's like Napoleon. When he was the king, you know, people were just constantly trying to conquer him, you know, in the Roman Empire. So, it's history repeating itself all over again."0

really? so while people score tix through the 10C pre sale and the public sale you sit and hope you get tix.reedrothchild wrote:they should really go back to old school mail order. No thanks. While imperfect, its worth an hour or two of my time to deal with the nightmare and know right away if I secured tix. And all those folks complaining about a different techno glitch-it comes down to the same thing-a bunch of people trying for limited tix-sometimes you get through, sometimes you do not. If you lack the patience to deal with the idiosyncrasies, sorry for you. I always get a good laugh from folks posting and giving up after 15 minutes. Oh my gosh, in my cart, WTF is wrong?
