Anyone else think the 10C needs a new ticketing system???

Nowadays getting tickets to PJ & EV shows is ridiculously frustrating. I wasn't able to get tickets to any of the Seattle shows during all three 10C ticket on-sales.

Tickets go on sale at a specific time and the 10 Club's website crashes, people spend hours refreshing and a lucky few get tickets. There are all sorts of errors, carts getting emptied, website timeouts and the forums explode with pissed off fan club members. The 10 Club's website is not capable of properly distributing tickets in this manner. Period.

I propose doing this in a way similar to Phish, Dave Matthews Band & other bands. With those bands there is a ticket WINDOW (usually 3 days long) where ANY member can REQUEST tickets. This eliminates the website crashing. In the event that demand outweighs supply the fan club will not be able to honor every request. In this case the fan club can chose which members get tickets by seniority or by random allocation. This would be fair to everyone and eliminate the website crashing.

The current system is downright embarrassing for a band of Pearl Jam's caliber and has to go.

    no
Its imperfect, but worth the results IMHO.
No mysterious allocations via lottery. Direct sale is fair and you get immediate results-be it good or bad.

I dont mind ripped faces, dropped carts, restricted messages whatever. Its a crapshoot. Sometimes you get it sometimes you dont. I can find an hour or two in my day to try and get them. Its completely worth it and I know right there and then if I need to get tix from another source.

But as an aside, you were complaining in the thread when others were getting through. You don't stop until it says sold out. Next time you know.

God forbid you weren't one of the lucky 250 or so people to get tickets to one of the EV shows through the 10 Club.

I got the "restricted" banner at the top of the page the first 5 times I hit the BUY button, which was new to me. At least this time the BUY button showed up. Unlike the Seattle 1 10C sale, I was able to get tickets this time. :D
I am sorry you had sh*tty luck with this system. I have been there before, so I know how you feel.

    We ALL have.
In the end you learn that EV/PJ tickets aren't the end of the world.
Show up at the pre-party and I'm sure you'll find some tickets.

I'm tired of reading complaints about DMB and Phish, no offense but they don't have as many fans as PJ first off, second I think the way it is now is fair, with the only tweaking needed being a bigger server. I was shut out for both NY shows and got Philly, where did the membership agreement say that anyone here is entitled to anything when it came to ticket presales?? Complaining and bitching is getting you no where and I'm not trying to rub it in but bitching is not going to get you tickets through the presales at this point

  • better yet, phish and dmb are not as in demand as PJ I figured I'd fix that because how the hell do we know who has more fans....

If they were serious about carbon offsets- some seats would be reserved for fans who could stop by the venue ( maybe getting their by public transportation?) and stand in line for their tickets.

You are sadly mistaken there friend. Both easily rival Pearl Jam in popularity in both album sales and touring. Both other bands tour the entire country and sell out the entire country. Not sure if you noticed but Pearl Jam and Eddie are pretty limited in their NA Touring due to lackluster sales. It sucks but it's the truth.

And reading the responses in this thread just solidified the fact that there are a lot or pretentious jerks around here. The guy has a valid point. The other bands have figured out a good system and I have not once heard any of my friends bitch about the Warehouse or Phish ticketing system.

And I fixed my statement right after I posted that, I just got on a roll...this is the 10c not the warehouse or Phish's website....it is what it is if you don't like it this way then don't renew it's pretty simple

    +1, I like the idea.

For all of you saying this person is bitching and complaining shut the fuck up. The guy is only proposing an idea, an idea that seems to make it fair for everyone so that you all don't have to hear the bitching on this forum...and so we don't need to read the rude comments by all of you. And if you think THIS is bitching you surely haven't been around

Why? because I said "shut the fuck up"...im sick of hearing the responses that bash the original post that sheds some new light on how to fix this. If majority of fans are getting shut out, not just this EV solo tour but 2010 PJ tour, then there has to be a problem with the way things are going.

Yeah, love it or leave it, hippie.

    Wait.... what?

No, it's not a good system. It can be improved. There's nothing wrong with offering suggestions as to how to do so. And shit, the guy joined in 1998 and at this point has a total of 8 posts? It's not as though we're dealing with someone who just signed up recently and unleashed a torrent of complaints.

    Anything but a lottery.

I'd rather they keep the current system so at least I have SOME control over whether or not I get tickets. If you know what time zones are and you are persistent, you have a chance for tickets.

There were around 250 pairs available for each show with thousands going for them. Of course the majority of people were going to be shut out. A new system wasn't going to stop that. How did the tickmaster system work out with way more tickets available?

And yes, the language is not necessary on these boards.
