Eds new song....You Belong To Me..:-)...isnt this a cover???

Without You.....Isnt this a cover?....Seems to me that this sounds like the same song that Steve Martin and Bernadette Peters sang in "The Jerk" back in the day....Maybe I have lost my mind....Just sounds bit fmiliar to me.....I still dig these songs alot and really cant wait for the cd and dvd to be released....

If this has already been discussed, my apologies....Couldnt find anything on the topic...if it turns out there was one already...I will delete...:-)

    Yes, he does cover the song played in "The Jerk" but it isn't "Without You", it's "Tonight You Belong to Me". I just hope Steve Martin shows up at one of the US Shows to play with him. :D

    I Just heard the live bootleg version yesterday and I love this song. Great job Ed! If this is the only good song on the uke album (I am sure there will be more), it's already worth the cost!

    I've always wanted Ed to cover this song on the uke so you can't imagine the boner I had when the tracklisting was announced and that Cat Power would be singing it with him.

    When I was a young Child in the early 60's, I had this song ( Tonight You Belong To Me) on a red vinyl 45 and it was my favorite song!!! I have not heard this for many, many years and a while back I came across my favorite singer Ed, singing this very same beloved childhood song. Another sign for me that all the stars are aligned towards my path of Pearl Jam just feeling right for my Life.

    Are you talking about "You Belong to Me" or "Tonight You Belong to Me"? "You Belong to Me" is old and has been covered by Bob Dylan and Jason Wade of Lifehouse, and "Tonight You Belong to Me" was made famous in the 70's by the scene in The Jerk.

    Dylan also wrote a song called "She Belongs to Me" and did a tune with the Wilburys called "If You Belonged to Me." Dylan seems to be big on owning other people. :lol:
