Just interested in how everyone else is perceiving the sound quality of the 2011 CD remasters of Vs. and Vitalogy. Anyone prefer the remasters over the originals?

I didn't really notice a difference, to be completely honest with you.Lennon_Cobain wrote:Just interested in how everyone else is perceiving the sound quality of the 2011 CD remasters of Vs. and Vitalogy. Anyone prefer the remasters over the originals?0 -
i could tell differences in "corduroy"..prefer the original there........i notiched on "Vs" that "Go" seemed to hit a bit harder bass-wise...otherwise i couldnt tell much difference at all0

if you play the albums through high quality speakers or good headphones there is certainly a difference. the songs are a bit louder, crisper and don't sound nearly as muddy or washed out (not that they were bad to begin with). also there is a much clearer distinction between all the different instruments. you can hear all the different parts way better. the bass and drums are definitely kicked up a notch too.2006: Hartford

Agree you need good headphones. Love indifference on the reissue0

I guess my question relates more to "brickwalling" than anything else. Upon first listen, the reissues are "louder" and less dynamic than the originals, but not as "brickwalled" as the Ten reissue (thankfully)."I'll end up alone like I began..."

I agree with this. I find the remastered vitalogy somewhat difficult to listen to. Granted I'm playing it through a quality stereo. I don't know if it's only me, but part of what I loved about vitalogy was it's stripped down somewhat muddled sound. Now it's just louder with over-inflated low end.
I'm sure it sounds better on headphone on an iPod and that's what matters now.Lennon_Cobain wrote:I guess my question relates more to "brickwalling" than anything else. It's definitely better. I wasn't convinced at first from hearing clips, but play the original Go and then the remastered Go. There's a pretty big difference at least with that song. Everything sounds clearer and crisper. It's less muddy and more separation between the sounds.
I wasn't going to buy the albums, so I downloaded them.. I know, bad, but I was convinced enough to re-buy them through Ten Club.0 -
notice big difference with the bass in vs...much more defined
vitalogy not too sure about after a couple of listens now...
i think i would go for the next set of no code/yield but thats it. rarely play binaural and riot act and the last 2 sound just fine...0
