Today, I Remember

Today is your day‬
I can’t deny or‬
‪try to hide from that‬
‪every year this day‬
‪serves as a reminder
as to what you have missed‬
‪in our lives‬
and what was taken from us too soon‬

I miss that silly grin‬
‪and stupid little growl like sound‬
‪you made after saying something‬
that you‬
and only you could find funny‬
I miss the bullshit stories‬
‪about you as‬
“a little boy, living on a farm in the country”‬

‪I actually miss‬
the early morning calls‬
‪for something that could have waited‬
I miss it all‬
‪the good‬
‪and the bad‬
‪
the hilarious‬
‪and the horrific‬

I miss my drinking buddy‬
‪the story teller‬
and I miss my friend‬

‪

I miss my dad.‬
