Anyone else married/in a relationship/whatever with someone who is NOT a fan of Pearl Jam? My hubby has been a good sport by coming with me to a few shows but he sits throughout most of them while I jump around like a crazy person. I'm sure there's others out there that are in a similar situation, so I thought maybe we could support each other! How do you deal with it? Who do you get to come to shows with you?

My wife isn't near the fan of them that I am, but she tolerates quite a bit.
Is it so wrong to think that love can keep us safe?

My wife likes Pearl Jam quite a bit, but is clearly not a fanatic, and good-naturedly makes fun of my fanaticism. ;)

Nope, in fact my wife and I have gone to 18 shows together including Tres Mt's last week. and she has a member number 179xxx. I don't know if I could have married anyone that didn't enjoy sports and PJ. It just wouldn't have worked I don't think. She will be in Africa scouting locations for our next clean water well project for the EV show and won't be able to go. She will be in Ethiopia and Kenya.

To a capital T -- the story of my marriage. My wife loves PJ and is excited for shows, but she definitely teases me about it. She joked about the scene I'm going to make when we have a chance meeting with Ed at some Minneapolis bar before his show this summer. She's sure I'll get dragged away in handcuffs crying...

My husband just never got it. I took him to VFC and PJ in STL last May and he saw EV in Memphis, he didn't get it. He wouldn't even watch the shows, he watched me!

I usually take one of my kids, or a friend now. Me and the EX are in the process of divorce. He says it all had to do with my PJ obsession. I said it has nothing to do with the fact that you've had a girlfriend since last summer and moved in with her? He didn't reply.

Yes! My wife just doesn't understand why I act like a 12 yr. old at a Justin Bieber concert when it comes to Pearl Jam. The one show I took her to (Ice Bowl), which was an unreal show, she couldn't wait to get out of there. To quote her "They just kept playing and playing, I didn't think it was going to end!".....So needless to say, we were one and done on shows together. I still have a couple of friends that have interest, or I hook up my extra fan club ticket with a deserving soul on here! :)

I've gotten the hubby on the bandwagon. Or else we'd have NOTHING in common!

Mr. Unlost's iPod: Maybe 100 songs total, Simon and Garfunkel, Madonna and, I strongly suspect but don't have the heart to confirm, Lady Gaga.

My iPhone: 13 versions of Evenflow alone in the 522 PJ songs _ and I haven't downloaded all of the boots and CDs.

He has no interest in PJ, but willingly dropped me off at the Tres Mts preparty Sunday night so I could meet "these guys from the forum" who he knows I only "know" from the boards... and then came back into town to pick me up and listened and nodded politely on the drive home while I shouted at him about being within a few feet away of meeting Mike (I was shouting because my ears were ringing so bad) AND I CAUGHT A PICK! AND MET ALL THESE GUYS!"

    Meh.

    It works for us.
    but mostly for me ;)

Mr. RK was a huge PJ fan when I met him...he had several shows under his belt, and me? none :(
I won tix to see them and went to 2 other shows...now, for some reason, he is just not as excited for them, has told me 'No Ed, we're seeing PJ20...that's too much PJ' I told him, 'That's not fair "Mr. I've seen PJ like 10 times"' :x (and he has been to 2-3 PJ shows without me because his friend won tix).

When I told him I only have 2 more holiday singles to get before my collection is complete, he said, 'I think you're getting carried away'..... *sigh*

Totally willing to be someone's 'Plus One' to shows if their spouse is not a fan...

Story of my life. My wife is not much of a music fan in general...she likes American Idol and whatever shit comes on the top 40 radio station. I've tried to broaden her horizons with little success. Shit, we were driving last weekend and I had Ten in the CD player...when "Evenflow" comes on she asks "who is that?" She remembered the song, but apparently had no idea it was Pearl Jam. Of course, she plays dumb sometimes just to get under my skin and get a reaction out of me (believe me, it worked this time), but who knows?
I've never taken her to a PJ show, but that's only because my location restricts the number of decent concerts I can go to (usually have to travel, and don't often get the opportunity). I took her to a Widespread Panic show once...she didn't complain, but you could tell she definitely didn't "get it."
When she married me she was aware of my gargantuan music collection, so she knew what she was getting into. But when we have kids, I've made it very clear that it will be ME who will take care of their musical education.
  • My EX wife hated my enthusiasm for Pearl Jam. Divorce really was the best option.:lol::lol::mrgreen:

That's EXACTLY how my hubby acted...and this was for the Chicago UC show where PJ played Crown of Thorns... come on now!!!!! I usually end up taking a friend to the shows but most of my friends could care less really. I think I'll use your cue and start unloading them here from now on!

May could be hit or miss for me, a lot of travel for work is coming down the pipe, but I'll definitely keep an eye on that thread for confirmation of date etc. and let you know. If not then, then for sure before the Ed show!! :D

HAHA - it works out pretty nicely this way. Mrs. Abruzzo gets annoyed when I put on PJ Radio in the car - she says "don't you get sick of PJ all the time?" What a ridiculous question! It really means I was sick of whatever song was on Alt Nation. ;)

I mean, I guess I could give her SOME credit...she likes the Beatles, but still can't sing along with every word of their catalogue like I can. Plus, who DOESN'T like the Beatles?
