High Shipping Cost?

I really hope this doesn't come off as complaining as I really just have a question about something.

I wasn't really interested in paying $150 for the Vs/Vitalogy super deluxe box set but I am interested in purchasing the VS and Vitalogy LPs currently available for sale in the goods section. Shipping for the two items comes out to $23.00, which is more expensive than the VS LP and almost as much as the Vitalogy LP. This seems really steep. Is there anyway I can choose a "ground" shipping option? The shipping is even more expensive than the shipping for the Super Delux Box Set, which I assume is a bigger item. Does this seem reasonable? May just purchase the LPs from another source if these shipping costs do end up being correct.

Amazon.com is cheaper, free ground shipping and will charge your credit card upon shipping the items to you.

Didn't think they'd be on there for some reason. Thanks for the information!

I'm with you. Hell the shipping on the PJ 20 sticker and badge pack is 40% of the selling price. They weighed no more than a regular postal letter, so why the big mark up on shipping. One word, PROFIT!

Their shipping is in line with Ticketmaster service charges. On the smaller items/shows, you pay almost as much in shipping/service charges as you do for the items/tickets.

I think you might have to wait a little longer (says releases in May), but I assume that's to let the record stores have them solely for a little more than just Record Store Day.

It's not like you haven't heard the material before though, so the wait shouldn't kill ya.

Thanks for using Ticketmaster as an example. Priceless.

Unfortunately their shipping charges are in-line with other band's official stores. I've bought things from Phish, Wilco, Tom Waits, and the shipping charges for all three have been pretty ridiculous.

Pay that shipping fee or try and find them elsewhere. Those are really your only 2 options.

FYI - Shipping for these went down to $10.50 for the pair. Much more reasonable IMO.

I emailed 10C about shipping price on Tres Mts vinyl.

They gave me this guide to shipping prices. Sometimes there is a fixed price like on TM vinyl and sometimes not. Normal shipping applied to Vs/Vitalogy LP
    $0.00-$5.00 = $2.00
    $5.01-$10.00 = $7.00
    $10.01-$35.00 = $11.00
    $35.01-$55.00 =$14.00 etc.
    $55.01-$75.00 = $17.00
    $75.01-$95.00 = $21.00
    $95.01-$135.00 = $35.00
    $135.01-$175.00 = $30.00
    $175.01-$250 = $35.00
Over $250 add 15% of Merch subtotal

Also, if you are willing to wait, shipping typically becomes more reasonable a couple of weeks after release. For pre-releases they often fix the shipping costs, but a couple weeks later it falls into the regular shipping range. For example, if I were to order Tres Mts. Vinyl/CD combo 2-3 weeks ago, it would have cost me $25 to ship to Canada. Whereas waiting a couple of weeks after release it drops to $11 combined. I think they do this in case there is a delay on part of the order, they can at least send what they have.

So, if you still want to order through 10C, shipping on the two vinyl will likely drop to half the costs if you are willing to hold off making the order until later April. I usually make the judgement call based on how badly I want the item and how likely it is that availability will be an issue in the future. I don't think these items are very limited so you should be good.

If you can't wait, it's probably best to go with another online retailer as you'll save a few bucks on shipping and would probably get it in similar timing to 10C (assuming you live in the US).

Yeah, and it really isn't that uncommon for merch on a band/artists web site to list the most expensive prices so I'm fine with that. The thing that got me though was that original shipping price listed, but as I stated it has now been cut in half.
