The may be an obvious question with the answer being Santa Barbara, but if I were to see one of the California shows, which would be be the best combination of both great venue and great city?

And if I were to do 2 of the California shows, what would be the next best choice?

well depnds i guess...are you looking for more of what to do in the city or is it what is the best venue?

for venue, i gotta believe it's either the wiltern or the theater in oakland...both are beautiful art deco buildings and the wiltern is a great place to see a show

if it's city, i'd go with san diego

Thanks Norm. I would say a combination of both. A nice city and a great venue. Somewhere that I would want to stay for a few days, not just show up the day of the show and then jet the next morning.

What is Long Beach like (as a place, no so much the venue)?

SB all the way, but I'm highly biased as a UCSB alum.

Copley Hall is nice place. Got a old Symphony Hall feel, down to the 80 year old ushers in white coats.

I'd pick the Wiltern over Copley, it's a really great venue. Have to see a show there at least once. But if you land anywhere in So Cal, you'll be able to find things to do in Santa Barbara, LA, or San Diego.
"You're no help," he told the lime. This was unfair. It was only a lime; there was nothing special about it at all. It was doing the best it could.

The SB Bowl is bigger then the other venues, but it is an amazing outdoor venue. SB is a nice little beach city, so the vibe at the venue is always very peaceful. There are some great taco stands in the neighborhood as well!

They have a very early curfew, so Ed will most likely be on during sundown!
  • The Wiltern is really nice, saw Ed there in 2008 (met him before the 2nd show too). Last time around, the SD shows were at Spreckels.... beautiful theater. Not sure about the one holding it this time...

Saw Ed @ the Arlington Theatre in Santa Barbara & @ the Wiltern Theatre, Los Angeles. Both were great theatres. Never been to the Santa Barbara Bowl. But from the pics via image.google, that will be Ed's first solo show played outdoors this tour, right?

I love the SB Bowl it's my favorite venue in CA hands down. It's size, it's beauty, it's awesome GA/PIT. Just a great place all around. BUT, I don't know about Vedder acoustic, as it's outdoors. And being 3000plus capacity the sound drains by the time it hits the back section. Granted not all his stuff is acoustic, some is electric but then again some is ukelele and that may drown out in an open air setting. Or it may sound perfect, only time will tell. I will personally be there so will be very curious. I'm looking at pics of all the other venues now, and will post if I have time before I leave. So stoked for this tour!!!
