I wish they had used Paperless Tickets for the TicketMaster tickets for the EV shows. Scalpers are gonna eat up these tickets.

I hate paperless tickets. I have ticket stubs from every concert i've ever been too. That being said your name should be on a ticket and you should have to show an ID with your ticket (maybe even credit card). I'd like to keep the ticket from the concert, along with keeping scalpers away from true fans as you said. A hybid should be intoduced as I hate scalpers as much as the next guy.

Scalpers have programs that ensure them the first to enter ticketmaster. Either way scalpers are going to have tickets that fans want

I've always wondered why PJ doesn't do this? Perhaps it's more of an expense that ticket agencies try to put on them as we know ticket agencies often work hand in hand with scalpers.

Scalpers are like cockroaches. They always find a way in.

we all like ticket stubs, but is that stub worth having to pay another $100 for your ticket? not to me it isnt. I'd rather that they use paperless and I be able to get into a show at face value.

i'm pretty sure that several states are actually considering laws that would make paperless ticketing illegal believe it or not.

    its been in the news....

Thanks for posting that. It makes TM look like good guys, but they're just as slimy as StubHub. Interviewer should have asked him how it's fair that TM has it's own ticket scalping site.

Tis True that ticket sales will go fast.. but I bet there will be extras available day-of. Lots of people might be looking to rid of their second ticket, as EV isn't as in-demand as a PJ show is. I could not sell my extra ticket in Newark 2008, and I wasn't the only one trying to unload a ticket for several hours prior to the show. The most I was offered was like 20 bucks. Granted, it was for an upper level seat, but I wasn't going to just give it away either.

I did a fan club pre-sale with paperless tickets once a couple years back, and I loved it. It was a fan club I didn't even have to pay to be in. They even had a separate line at the venue for the fan club members. We showed someone our ID, got crossed off the list, and got in. Granted the venue was a pretty small general admission club, but it was awesome.

I hate scalpers. I got totally boned trying to purchase Queens of the Stone Age tickets because of them. QOTSA announced their pre-sale and password right on facebook, so scalpers got those tickets AND the second wave that went on sale to the general public. Plus, the pre-sale started about 10-15 minutes after it was supposed to.

I think the Ten Club does a pretty good job. It could be better, but it could be way, way worse.

Edit: I know this post was specifically about Ticketmaster paperless tickets, but this is just my 2 cents on the general subject.
