I agree this list is crap. Although I love seeing the nod to PJ so high, I don't believe Ten should be above albums like The Doors. I like Santana, but #13??? Also how can Radiohead OK Computer be #111?
I think the main problem with the list is that it's a list of most influential AND best selling. It should just be most influential. Sure sales can factor into influence, but it obviously put albums on this list that are in no way influential.
I'm surprised there's no Britney Spears...0 -

Yeah. I love Pearl Jam, and I think they are better than The Doors. But the argument is most influential album. Not which band is better or even which album is better.0 -
Kid Rock and Green Day also made the list. Shit list is shit. Thanks EPOTTSIII!

Huh??? Guns N' Roses is garbage. I won't even justify that list by looking at it, but YOU have to be kidding, right?Detroit '98 - Detroit '03 - Toledo '04 - Grand Rapids '04 - Kitchener '05 - London '05 - Grand Rapids '06 - Cleveland '06 - Detroit '06 - Chicago '07 - West Palm Beach - Tampa '08 - Toronto '09 - Indy '10 - Buffalo '10 - Toronto '11 - London '130 -
whaddya want from COMMERCIALISM? You expect more? That's why PJ's songs are not heard on radio stations OTHER THAN "TEN"! Was it an incredible album? Undeniably! but we are chosen few (or many according to my 10c number!) that chose to listen to ALL PJ has to offer daily...helll, HOURLY..some day's it's ALL I LISTEN TO! because I know PJ is all that will help me make it through the day....
Seriously, you expect more from lists?? -- BEST SINGER, everyone had issues on that because ED wasn't even included..now this? ... let the world have their crap "music" put together by corporate suits...we can keep our PJ just the way they are...
And I know we're a bit demanding, but we CAN"T WAIT for the next album guys!!
Anyone have any idea on what it will be like?"Dream the dream others then...you will be no one's RIVAL!"
"Doo do do do doo do doo, Doo do do do doo do doo..."0 -

I'm not even sure the members of the band know yet. Can't escape from the common rule...
If you hate something, don't you do it too0 -

No, I just put that in to annoy you...
It's 'popular and influential' not greatest, so maybe my thread title was misleading.
I would argue that Appetite was much more popular (that's not really debatble - it's sold more) and influential (Vedder's voice was certinally influential, but I believe that GNR as a whole had more influence on music to come. Neither bands are that influential though).
As for the better record, I'd choose Ten but it's down to personal preference.
But come on, Ten above Born To Run? I'd like to see Vedder pen universally beloved songs like the title track and Thunder Road.0 -
Turcotte98 wrote:that is true, was my fav when I first started listening to pearl jam back in 04, now it barely makes top 5.
let's take a breath here...barely makes the top 5? C'mon...0 -
How is it possible that almost everyone doesn't think Ten belongs among their best work?!?! Have you all seen the track list recently??
I guess everyone is sick of hearing those songs hundreds of times. Really, I can't think of any reason........
By the way, Riot Act better than Ten?? That's insane, or just stubborn...not one song on Riot Act comes close (though I do love Riot Act).96-Prague
98-Camden
03-Camden
06-Prague, Berlin, Vienna, Zagreb
07-Katowice
08-NYC I/II, Hartford, Mansfield I/II0 -
Kenny G is more more influential than Rubber Soul?!?! Are they on crack?0
-
Creed's Human Clay is on there.... not only is it on there, but it is 95. London Calling is 96.
I believe I have made my point. And before his first step... He's off again...0 -
wow... pretty eclectic list... not really the greatest "rock" album list at all... harvest at 98?? STP makes it bust soundgarden doesnt?? shaniah twain and norah jones are WAY to high... i have a number of other problems with the list... its seems like they were just associating as they made it... "oh nirvana should be 10... oh that reminds me... how bout pearl jam?"... then they started listing rap albums at the same spot...
nice to see PJ get the respect they deserve though!0 -
am i the only one who thinks sticky fingers is better than exile on the main st. ? sticky fingers never ranks high in any list"hey na na na na hey that's something"
