I am looking for a studio version of 'Throw Your Arms Around Me' by Pearl Jam or Eddie Vedder solo. Does one exist?

My wedding is next month and I would like to play it walking down the aisle (without screaming fans being heard). Is this a lost cause?

Also, I am looking for an instrumental version of Alive.

Can you help a sister out??

cheers.

I honestly dont believe there is a studio version. Ive only ever heard live versions. Theres obviously the original Hunters and Collectors version and I do believe theres an acoustic Mark Seymour version. Not much help Im afraid.

Theres an awesome acoustic version of Throw Your Arms on Itunes by Mark Seymour on an album called Daytime and the Dark...its not Eddie but its a hell of a version.... :?:
  • Thanks, I will check out the MS version as an alternative.

    Tis a shame though.

just ask ed to play your wedding... he owes you one
  • I looked in vain for several months for such a recording.

    I don't even have a live version :(

Very special song to me. Sad in so many ways, but so close to my heart.

The Mark Seymour acoustic is fantastic. Makes me cry.

    Good luck!
    Well, fuckers, he still stands.

Neil Finn sings a great version of this song on an album called "Sounds Eclectic"

I've got a killer studio version by H&C or Seymour but I can't figure out what album it is from. I think I downloaded it from limewire years ago. It's the best version I've heard yet.
P.S. If I were you, I would go for the Seymour or H&C versions. Especially if you want a studio recording. :)
  • BEEGIRL,
I MUST AGREE WITH THE PEARL JAM NATION CANT SAY IVE HEARD OF " THROW YOUR ARMS AROUND ME". STUDIO RELEASE DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT AINT PEARL JAMS OR EDDIES BUT I MAY B WRONG. BUT YOUR OTHER REQUEST FOR THE "ALIVE" INSTRUMENTAL U CAN FIND ON A ALBUM CALLED " THE STRING QUARTET TRIBUTE TO PEARL JAM". I KNOW THIS CAUSE I DO HAVE THE ALBUM AND IM SURE THERES OTHERS.

    CHEERS

Alive instrumental as in the Pearl Jam take without Ed's vocals? Or instrumental as in an orchestral arrangement?

i still havent worked out why people want a song about fucking someone in the middle of the night for a booty call and never seeing them again as a wedding song.

Is it about a booty call.....or does it just seem to be that way. Maybe it's about cherishing every second you have with someone because the next moment of life isnt guaranteed. That's how ive always thought of it. What does everyone else think?

I had the dj play this at my wedding not too long ago. he snuck it in during dinner, so I think the words were lost on a lot of people, but then again people can interpret the songs any way they want to, and they can mean different things to different people (I did hear ed say this once) so power to you if you want it a part of your day.

I chose a version he did with Liam during one of the Australia or European shows, I forget which off the top of my head. PM me if you want more specifics, and I can even send you my pj wedding cd - the 7 songs we had played - at mine if it helps! congrats!

He will for $50,000 per hour. At least that's what his agent quoted a friend of my wife's husband when he called seeing if he was available or willing to do it. hahahahahahaha

Agreed. I also think its about seeing a long lasting relationship in the blink of an eye, and reflecting on how important the highs/lows are..

Spectacular song though.. I had to rip the version of the DVD with Ed and Mark Seymore so I could listen to it in my car all the time. Such passion and energy when Seymore starts yelling at t he end.

It makes me think of yawning and how mundane some songs are.

  • Its FINALLY In studio!

I kinda of like the mystique that it was never recorded live and to be honest maybe i miss the sound of the screaming fans, but this studio version is really beautiful.

I guess you can play it at your wedding now, but to be honest, i think i would still go for a live version.
  • Thanks everyone for posting about this. It's Jan 2016 and my hubby-to-be and I want to use this for our first dance! He's Australian, and I'm the huge PJ fan. It's such a meaningful thing that we can share! But I'm still not quite satisfied with the versions I've found. Thanks to those posting above. If anyone else has good ones besides where he duets with Neil and Mark... please help :)

It's wedding song-ish if you don't listen to the lyrics, I guess. Because you're right, it's about a booty call.

There is the studio version Ed recorded with Neil Finn for the album of H&C covers a couple of years ago. It's a good version as long as you don't mind that Neil sings the 2nd verse and some harmonies between the two of them. I debated this for my wedding song last year, but the now wife voted for Future Days instead...I was just happy she let PJ song be played!
