    WHATS A BOGAN?

    SCOTT :)

Probably best described as our version of Rednecks.

    Drunk, loud and obnoxious.

That's a great set list- would have LOVED to see "One Country" ( favourite Oils song)...I was starting to wonder when the Aussie covers might start, after none in the Brisbane shows. There were bogans yelling out shit through all the Brissy shows as well. It's only a small minority, but they are loud enough to be bloody annoying. It's not a football game ya morons- shut up and let the man sing.
Every show has had amazing songs on them so far- what a great tour.
Is it true that there was no specific Canberra Poster?
I'll ride the wave where it takes me

If true, it could be a issue with the poster not making it to the venue on time. In that case the Newcastle venue just may have the Canberra posters too. Pure speculation though.
And so you see, I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
    I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

Must've been amazing to have been there.
Setlist alone, this may be my favorite Ed setlist I have ever seen! Immortality! Masters of War! Parting Ways! The list goes on! And somebody, anybody- how was Parting Ways?!?

There were also too many photos being taken. Flashes going off all night. One guy took about 20 shots and it was blocking Ed's face for me. I've already spent too long on the negatives of the crowd though.

I'll forget them in time. Then the brilliance of the Eddie and last night will become more brilliant for me. It's all good. Who else could put in a performance that grows better with age?

Parting Ways was amazing. The heavier strumming on the acoustic guitar gave this song a bit of edge and sounded brilliant.

Immortality was Awesome. said before it (not exact words). "I am going to play one requested earlier, but reserve the right to stop after the first verse" then played the opening parts and when it came to sing asked someone up front the opening words. Everyone started yelling Vacate is the Word. He said "quiet this guy up front seems to know it. Just him tell me" did this all the while palying then ripped into the rest of the song flawlessly.

    other highlights
    parting ways
    can't keep
    Porch
    Mastoers of War.

The End really shows off eds voice in a small venue. Mesmorizing.

On another note. I heard so much of people yelling requests and stuff that I was expecting a nightmare of "bogans" :) but it seemed ok to me. I think I was prepared.

Eddie was amazing!! I agree about too many idiots calling out and wasting time but Eddie was very gracious.

Every song was amazing but Immortality really stands out.

Big shout out to Darcy!! Lucky guy!

Wow it totally exceeded my expectations. I cannot believe he played immortality, I had always hoped he would but never expected it. Helarious when he pretended to forget the words, I really thought he was going to stop playing it.
Can't keep and Master of War were great. Eddie seemed in a good mood, chatty and witty as ever! Loved when someone requested Dirty Frank and Eddie was like "Fuck you man, Dirty Frank, c'mon" - he handled the yellers really well.
Was a bit disapointed when he stopped Golden State, but luckily I am going to more shows :D

    Still on a high!

Immortality? Are you frigging kidding me?
  • G'day Awesome concert.

I was expecting it to be a little mellower but I think Ed has a little lead guitarist in him :D , he really got into the guitar playing. As for bogans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bogan ) some of the yelling came from some with a good PJ knowledge. I was sitting a few seats down from the Dirty Frank requestor, Eddie was on stage with EJ Barnes at the time and I think given the subject of the song swore at him there was a tinge of humor in Eddies abuse.

A few anecdotes Ed was very impressed when on arrival in Canberra he walked out onto his hotel balcony with his guitar and he was welcomed by a large firework display. He then said there is a psychological term for someone who thinks the world revolves around them ....... an asshole. (Fireworks were for Canberra Day).

    Highlights
    1) Immortality, awesome really higlighted Ed's Vocals, his voice is still amazing I wish it was more outfront in PJ.
    2) One Country, great choice of an Oils song and not one that most overseas would be familiar with (man can't Garret quit politics and go back to writing some great music).
    3) Hard Sun, Wishlist and Guaranteed were also great

As for poster there was one with EV in a tube holding a guitar and case, but no mention of Canberra specifically on it.

    Cheers

PS Darcy if I was on stage there is no way I could hold a book so still!!!

I like when Ed said "I arrived at my hotel today" and someone in the crowd yelled "which one" and Eddies response was "I couldnt tell if it was a male or female voice, could you say it again"

Also loved when someone yelled out amongst all the song requests "play every song you know" and Eddie responded "We would be here a long time if I did that" the crowd cheered "But if I played every song I can well then it would only be about another 3 songs"
Take me for a ride before we leave...

I ran into the guy that yelled out Dirty Frank after the show, he was so stoked ed acknowledged him, he was like "i yelled out dirty frank and ed told me to fuck off!" he was very excited about it all. He wanted to know where him and his mate could go off and party, so i sent them to mooseheads...sorry guys :D
it's all been said already, but wow, what a night, what a setlist, ed rocked it, played everything i wanted to hear and then some!

    thanks eddie.

Holy shit, if he plays this in Melbourne I'll be in heaven. One off my list of songs to hear! And MOW, how good is it that he played that, I was only listening to it 2 nights ago thinking how I'd like to hear that live too.

And my word, what a great setlist....Eddie's Aussie solo shows seem to be getting better and better :)

Bet One Country was awesome - love that song! And :o Immortality......solo :o

I feel I'm picking up the aussie lingo in these fanview threads - I'm guessing bogans means something like bogus people. Do they still watch Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure over in Oz??

Anyway - great looking set - thanks for the write ups so far - looking forward to hearing more!!

Bogans = lower class, yobbos, idiot types, dickheads. I think you refer to them as rednecks in the States.

would love to have heard golden state, i'm sure anyone who's been to a PJ show in australia would have heard 'throw your arms around me' before.

can't help but feel like if the few dickheads that constantly yelled out songs he was never gonna play in a solo set had of just shut the fuck up a bit, we might have got an extra half hour or so...
